Well ?

I'm in the process of buying... Obviously I need a mixer... Recommendations ? It will never leave the house... Just something to hook up and try to sing

I use the following. Alesis MultiMix 8 USB Mixer with USB and DSP

I also use it for hosting karaoke parties. It's probably not the best choice for what you need but I like it.

Actually Chuck that might be a very good choice for Kappy considering it has onboard fx.

If you're looking for something basic this is what I use Steven:

I use an AudioTechnica AT4040 condenser mic connected to the mixer via Monster Cable 10' cord.  The Behringer UB802 Eurorack has no fx but I use Audition to record so not needed.  Lots moan and groan about Behringer but for my intended purpose it's a good lil mixer plus it won't hurt your wallet either.  Nice crisp recordings.

Actually, Steven, if you're interested in the one Cat just listed... I have one in perfect condition I'll send you. Hell, my first mixer was mailed to me for free, and I'm not using this one, so I may as well share it with someone who'll use it.

I bought it from a friend thinking I'd need the 2 channels and the "phantom power", turns out I don't wish to record with either, I"m sticking to my single SM58 mic to record if/when I do... so I find myself using the smaller mixer I still have. And I'm trying to set up to record myself live anyhow.

I bought this as I said, "thinking" I may need it, and a friend was trying to scrape up some cash and sold it to me very cheaply. But it's like brand new. So, it's yours if ya want it, just PM me with where to send it. It's in my dresser drawer being unused.

Wow Charmin, very generous of you!  Definitely take her up on it Steven, it's exactly what you need.

I got mine because you need Phantom power to run a condenser mic; took me awhile to get used to it but I've finally gotten my settings right and am very happy with it.

I used to record with a 58 too Charm.  That dayum condenser mic is wayyyyyy sensitive and with this big booming voice of mine I went through quite a bit of frustration before I finally hit on a winner.

Plus is has that extra midrange tone control which really comes in handy for vocals.

I tried a borrowed condenser mic, I didn't like the recording. It was a bit TOO sensitive for my taste. (on MY voice) I want one for using live, they work awesome for bluegrass music sets where you have vocals plues 3-5 instruments... but I'm saving my dough for a big fancy shmancy one:)

I like my voice better (on computer recordings) with just the Sm58. So, I don't need the phantom power. And I don't use the 2nd jack either... I always multi track if recording my guitar or fidd or something anyhow, or just use the same mic if I record them together.

I'm just thinking... no sense in it sitting in my drawer collecting dust if someone can put it to use.

My nephew came down over the weekend and he just got one of these and brought it along to do some music:

Lordie, but that thing was cool. Kinda like CEP in a box, add in a drum machine:)

I have a Behringer 1204 FX and my son has a 1202 FX.
Both have really nice features and in my opinion sound pretty good.

I use a Behringer 1222fxpro and run the tape out to the line in a Boss recorder just like the one Charmin mentioned above.  I tried recording on my PC before, but this is sooooo much easier.  Plus it has very nice mixdown presets!!

Steven, I would also recommend the mixer that Cathi and Charmin mentioned earlier -- very good mixer for a low price!

I just don't think you're able to get a clean enough signal by plugging your SM58 into an impedance matching transformer then going through the Zoom guitar effects unit then into the keyboard mixer and finally into the soundcard.

I would recommend plugging the 58 into a channel of the Behringer mixer, hook the Zoom effects unit into the external effects loop of the mixer to get your effects then go straight from the line-out of the Behringer to the line-in of your computer's soundcard.

Odie, Steven wants some type of mixer that has effects built into it.

(the guy just CAN'T start small like we all did, he's gotta go balls out and have the best system around)  LMAO

J/K Stevie;)

So....... if I was to be "out looking" for a man....... I should ask a guy first about what type/how much FX he uses?  :drunk:

Does Adobe Audition have software FX that will better suit vocals.  If-so I can scrap the FX unit and go directly into the sound car from the mixer ?
