So, who makes the best version?

I have the all Hits version and I don't like it.

I have  the Dk, Ek, Pioneer, and SC versions. Personally, I prefer either the Ek or SC. They're both closer musically and tempo wise to the original. Just my opinion.
The SC is SC8118, the EK is disc 6, Pioneer cdg 301 and DK 03. Should be fairly easy to check out which one YOU prefer.

EK is Essential Karaoke. I think, not sure, that they come from "across the pond". I only have the first 6 discs, but their versions are as good if not better than some others. I don't even know if they're still making discs. I'll have to check that out. As far as my "collection" goes, I have the original DK. most of the pioneer cdg's, ALL of the original pioneer laser discs, Vol. 1-57, the 11 disc dangerous cdg's A LOT of SC, ALL HITS, HELLAVADISC, about 10 SGB's (Sweet Giorgia Brown......yuk) ,Legends, (some good, some not) MM (Music Maestro) Chartbusters, and various odd and end discs that I picked up over the years. Ya..I have a few.

I suppose the SC version will be the easiest to get these days. Well looks like I'm getting close to buying some SC disks. Is that in a Foundation Pack or in a brick?
Thanks for the info.

All I know is that its their "Spotlight Series" SC8118 and it is available on eBay right now for $8.99 plus $6.00 s/h. The person selling it is one of eBay's "power sellers" by the name of "texastarat". Be advised that they'll charge an additional $1.00 for the disc to be shipped in a jewel case with all original artwork. Other than that, they ship in a cd "envelope". So....for a total of $15.99 you'll have your disc in a few days. Good luck.

I went and listened to several song clips on Tricerasoft last night after reading the above posts and they have some very good sounding song versions. I'm going to just buy a $100 pack and not look back. At least I'll get songs I really want. They have a terrific I Left My Heart In San Francisco version-full orchestra and very well recorded, $1.49. They also have Dean Martin Ain't That A Kick In The Head which I need. Also a very good recording. And they have A Kiss To Build A Dream On which I also need. Tricerasoft is likely going to get quite a bit of my business, at least $200 worth anyways.

Glad I could be of some help. Don't be afraid to try eBay. There are some really good deals to be had if you have the time and patience to look.

                                      Good luck,

Thanks for your help. This place has some real good people who are willing to share their knowledge with others.

I have purchased all of my Karaoke CDs off ebay so far. Soundchoice get bid up too high and aren't as common as the lesser brands like SGB, All Hits etc. I just can't afford $300 or even more for 30 discs right now-financially or psychologically. It's just a lot of money especially if you multiply it by several foundation paks and then add some bricks etc. I think the only way I'm going to get a full collection of SC discs is if I run across someone going out of business selling for 1/2 price. I am just going to focus on performing and eventually I will host Karaoke.

For performing I really only need maybe 300 songs, really less to start out and so far that's all I have found that I can sing. Lots of songs that I like, I can't sing. That's why if I can add 100 quality tracks from Tricerasoft, I'm in business. I can go out and make some money, have fun and over time save some money to expand my Karaoke collection.
