I'm looking for a new pair of speakers.  I was thinking maybe something w/dual 15s.  I've got a Behringer EP2500 ... Any recommendations for optimization.  My budget is about $1600.  I keep blowing my Cerwin Vegas with my amp, so I'm relegating them to backup.  If I need a new amp I can do that too.  I want a good fit.  Thanks.

Great speakers, however they are going to want approx 1400 watts per speaker into 8 ohms.  Easiest way is to get another EP2500 & bridge one to each speaker!

Aren't those 4 ohm speakers?

I have always wondered the relationship of RMS to program. Those state 800RMS, 2800 peak. If you divide 800 * .707 (sine of typical AC wave) you get about 1400.

Buy something you can put in the air, on a speaker stand.

I'd like to get a pair of CV or EV horn cabs with 15's...  They sound decent for electric piano

So is that amp being 1200 at 2 ohms or 2400 and 4 ohms bridged clipping those speakers ?

If you want good speakers try Turbosound.

Ah good catch!!  Yes they are 4 ohms, must've been tired when I responded  :D  .  The EP is going to be either underpowering them in a 4 ohm stereo or overpowering them in a bridge mono (one amp per speaker).  Now 2 EP1500 bridged (1 per speaker) would be more like it!
Yes usually most speakers manus rate their RMS/Program/Peak double from each other these days.  So the 700 watts RMS & 2800 Peak rating would equate to a 1400 Program rating which is where you typically want the amp to be pushing.

Pretty much!  They are 2 8 ohm drivers wired in a parallel configuration inside.  I suspect the horn is also 8 ohms (maybe 16), but is kept in check through the crossover creating an overall 4 ohm load.

I ended up purchasing the JBL PRX525.  I played with them a little yesterday; since they're floor models am I going to have issues with feedback?

Only major issue you will have is sound displacement.  Being on the floor is not ideal unless you have a higher stage for them to sit on.  You typically want your speakers about 6-8' off the ground to get over the crowd, when they are on the floor, the sound will be stopped at the crowd making it sound muffled in the back of the crowd as they aren't getting any of the higher frequencies.
