Just got my new laptop and are looking for a good karaoke program but something simple.

Also I am trying to find a website where I can download CDG's that have decent quality.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've been looking around a lot and the best way I have found is Tricerasoft. You can download individual songs that you want instead of buying tons of disks with one or two songs per disk that you want. Nearly all of the recordings they have are quite good. You can get 100 songs for $100 when you purchase them in a bundle.

The other way to get some good Karaoke tracks is the Soundchoice multi disk packs. This isn't downloading, they come on disks. They are the Foundation packs and then the Bricks and the Mortar. Each pack comes with 30 disks(some have less I think) which is about 450 songs per Foundation pack etc. Each foundation is around $300-$400. I have listened to a lot of Karaoke tracks and what the people here keep saying is that Soundchoice is good. Now I understand. Once you have them you can play them from your computer or copy them onto your computer.

As far as home computer programs, I would have to recommend Karafun. For home use it's free and the program allows you to adjust the pitch and the tempo. For a free program that's some pretty good features IMO.

Siglos is decent and inexpensive.  Some people use winamp with a Karaoke plug in. Some folks use Sax and Dotties. You can download a free Karaoke player from Tricerasoft, I downloaded it, but I can't get the sound to work. There's a few more, I'll let someone else who knows more chime in.

Hello!  Yes Tricerasoft is the best one for downloading karaoke songs, I have used it alot so far and I too just started using a laptop.  As far as a good karaoke program, I had purchased Compuhost and am really enjoying it....it has EVERYTHING to offer, especially if your just starting out!!!!  Hope this helps!!!

appears these are mostly the THM, Music Maestro, and other discontinued brands... I didn't see any Sound Choice (or hear any... there are NO labels on who they are by)... could be legit. OR at least, unprosecutable if they're using discontinued brands.
