Looks good to me just wondering about the speakers anyone ever had them or heard them ? I have the mixer & know its decent but this is for another rig or a back up. I have different speakers on the one I have now. Dont really need the mics but the package deal looks good. Thanks for any input.

The speakers are decent, I would still recommend to go with a package that includes the Yamaha S115V. We use both and IMHO the Yamaha sound a lot better. They have a package at the same website with those speakers: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=630193 The mixer has a different format, but is as good as the other one. |

Both those systems are decent. I prefer the one Kelly listed simply because I like to have an actual mixer with slide faders rather than using rotary pots. The JBL speakers aren't the greatest, but are equivalent to the Yamaha Clubs and will sound good in most situations. Oddly enough both those boards are underpowered for what the speakers should really have. |

True, I didn't even look at the Wattage output. I assumed, they assembled a package, that fits each other component. |

Thanks Lonman, youre the one person I was hoping would answer... But what speakers would you recomend with that mixer without buying extra amp or anything else ?? Or is what you are saying that I should get a better mixer ? Im with the previous poster I would have thought that it being a "set" that everything would work very well together. |

No don't get me wrong, the two systems will work fine, however both the speakers call for an amp that push aprox 500 watts into 8 ohms, both those powered mixers push about 3-350 watts into 8 ohms. Just means you may have a better chance to run distortion (clipping) to the speakers at higher volumes. Most powered mixers I have seen don't push alot more than what these do. |

I would think it will work well. But if you are looking to mix and match (those mics and cables are pretty putrid) then you should consider the Peavey PR-12 or PR-15. They call for 300-400 watts program. They also are very light, and sound pretty good. Sometimes it is nice to have a more portable set -- at least I find it to be that way. I use the Peavey PR-10 and the PR-Sub for my portable setup. Gives some pretty decent bass but I don't have to hoist 60+-pound speakers around. All three speakers weigh about 60 pounds combined. I know that they probably won't sound quite as good as the JBLs, but they ain't bad. |

I agree with Sevarin that the JBL stuff is over rated. I have never been overly impressed with Yamaha Pa gear but would rate it as OK. its better than beringer without a question. nobody I know of around here uses the yamaha powered stuff to run karaoke so I have not heard a lot of it. I do know a couple guys that use the yamaha speakers in bands. they never sound great but its not horible. Most speakers are rated at 8 ohms, if you could find a pair of 4 ohm speakers it would help as you could get the amp to its potential. otherwise a pair of lower rated speakers would match up with these amps.most likely these would be a smaller driver and bot make the bass that the 15s do. Im in the same boat as these systems being that I run 600w per side @4 ohm into a pair of speakers that are rated at 500w @ 8ohm.so at tops im getting 400 w per side @8 ohms. I know what I have and im carefull not to get it cliping. so far so good. my speakers are very efficient so I can get plenty loud before I an in any danger. |

No keep your speakers 8 ohms, nearly any sound engineer will tell you this, so much more room for expansion. Say you have an amp that is only stable down to 4 ohms, you can connect 2 8 ohm speakers per side as opposed to 1 4 ohm speaker per side. If you amp is stable to 2 ohms, you can now connect 4 8 ohm speakers per side as opposed to only 2 4 ohm. |

I see your point on expanshon Lonman. BUT we are talking about a simple karaoke PA not something we are using for stadium concerts. I would rather push 2 good speakers hard than haul 4 speakers. from my point of view I have only done karaoke in one venue where my mackie 808s and 2 EV SX500s were not more than enough. so I took in a crossover and some subs and an extra power amp. I would still have prefered my EVs to have been 4 ohm. in the past , in a band situation we have used 4 tops , but then we use power amps that can run all day at 2 ohms. in my experence when people plug in a second pair of speakers they do not match up with the first pair (different brands and sizes) and it sounds like bung. |

We recently provided the music for a rollerderby event - took the usual rack (Mackie/Crown), a couple of cordless mics, and ran the Bag Ends (15s) with two Yamaha 15's daisy chained. It was a college gym and the sound was fabulous...Nothing pushing hard, no sub, just really great sound. I was amazed at how clear it sounded. Bag Ends have been my fave for years - paid a lot for them but the spectrum of the sound that comes out of them is just amazing. Makes a nice pair on each side with the Yammies. I'm relieved because I've been asked to do it again and was thinking I'd need 2 subs as well. Phew...Now THAT is a lot of equipment. |
