Hello! Any suggestions on a good colorful rotateing light that doesn't suck the ever living power out of EVERYTHING....man, I tell ya, I had shut down the lightS at a bar all on acount of using my disco rotateing light, which I didn't think took that much power....granted the bar is a bit older but come on. My ears are open to all suggestions, pretty please and thank youuuu, oh yea and HAPPY FRIDAY  :dancin: :rotflmao: :banger:

:dancin: :rotflmao: :banger:Try a Vertigo. About $80, small. As with any lights you won't want them to continually run all night. Maybe a couple-3 songs max, then give a 1 song break. Also you DO NOT want them where they are flashing in the faces of your singers! |

I bought a little one a couple of years ago that had about 4 different patterns, and as it revolved it changed shapes. It is lightweight and fan assisted. I switch it on at the beginning of the gig and switch it off at the end. The only thing is its not sound activated. My other more expensive light is sound actived but to be honest it is too strong for most venues. We do mainly private functions, weddings etc and many people remain seated, the bigger light tends to get in folks eyes, whereas the smaller revolving one doesnt have the strength. Both lights are fan assisted and I wuold recommend that that is what you go for, the fan helps to keep things cool |

My opinion, if you want to spend money on new lighting go with a LED type of light(s), they are the future of lighting. Pros: * Extremely Long Life (100,000 hr. rated) * Very low power consumption - connect more units in a single circuit * Runs extremely cool! - NO Duty Cycles! – Run all night! * Razor sharp beams * Colors don’t fade in time Cons: * Cost * Learning DMX programming The initial cost of the unit is minimal considering the operating cost over time that will help with: not having to replace bulbs (like the halogen bulbs in older units)and energy savings from the low power consumption that these units use. You can go to the American DJ or Chauvet sites to see videos of each light.

It's my suggestion that you stay away from Chauvet! Unless you like repairing or replacing ur products often. I started out with just lighting and helping out a KJ friend (so lighting is my true passion) and it eventually grew into me becoming a KJ as well... anyways, I own American DJ lights, and have bought 1 set of Chauvet starbursts. Of all of my lighting equipment, the only thing that I've ever had any problems with (other than the other KJ leaving lights on too long and blowing bulbs) the Chauvet's. I talked to the lighting specialist at my local music store and he explained that Chauvet is like the lowest end of low cost lighting and (I quote), "It should be outlawed from professional use!" My most recent purchase was a Rover 50 by Startac. Even though it's not made by American DJ, I would still suggest it. I personally like the action of it and it's lightweight and easy to set up. It's got 3 different options for musical response, static, or *something else (I'd have to unpack it and look). Takes about as much power as a Vertigo, but with 3 times the action and if you get it on sale (as I did) the same price. LED is VERY LOW on energy and bulb consumption, but does cost quite a bit to get started, and as was already mentioned, you get to dive into the wonderful world of DMX. If you're looking for something to just plug in, turn on and let run, I wouldn't suggest andthing DMX (Unless it has a stand alone feature). Search www.PSSL.com or www.Musiciansfriend.com and see what they have. Good luck! |

My thoughts on lighting. Unless you are going to have several different types and patterns, one light gets boring very quickly. |
