Whats your take? I can get a pair of the JBL's for $760 and a pair of the peavey's for $600. I noticed that the peaveys push out 270 watts when the JBL's only have 185 but when i went to guitarcenter to listen to them today. In my opinion the JBL's had a much better sound and were just as loud. If you got right up in front of the peavey it felt like it had a ton of bass, but then you step away from it in a different direction and the sound isn't as good. Almost as it has no bass at all. But with the JBL if you were directly in front of it, it seemed as if there wasnt much bass, but then you stepped away and the sound sounded as if there were plenty of bass. Is this just a biased opinion considering i've heard from many guys at guitar center that the JBL's are better?

What do yall think?

Thanks for any help!

I would check ebay for JBL powered speakers.  I run non G2 and/or Eon G2'S.  Any peavey sound system I have heard was distorted and had floor noise. EONS!!!

If you ask is a technical question, putting it in the general Forum will not get the best result. Iam moving it.

JBL over the Peavey any day, however you may want to consider saving up for the JBL EON 'G2' series, as these will even blow what you demoed out of the water.
However you already tested & listened - go with your ears, what sounds better!!!!!  Everyone else will notice a difference as well.

The B52 Matrix system mentioned above is also a good alternative.

Actually in small venues we use the G2's. The 100/85 are used for "fill" or added watts  in larger venues. We have also used an  Eon 10 G2 for additional sound or fill.

Multiple speaker distribution does not require tons of watts and with proper speaker placement including angle the sound is even from one end to the other.
