Hi, everyone. On this other karaoke site some of us frequent, JOLT, we have these CD projects a few times a year where one person says, "I'm going to host X project" and then anyone who wants to participate sends in their songs to the person, who then puts the songs together and sends the finished CD project out to everyone.

So I am doing one now for 80's songs, and if anyone here is interested, please participate! All are welcome, no matter what recording or singing quality or ability you have. It's just for fun! You may recognize some others here who will participate, like me, Mark Cheetah, and Connie.

Here is the info:

Please send 2-5 songs per person, plus $4 for postage. You may send 100 business cards instead of money (a few duplicate cards is okay).

You can send me songs on cassette, CD, mp3, or thumb drive. I will return any items you want me to return. If you are sending MP3's, feel free to email them to me. I would suggest you zip each one and send them separately. Or you can put them up on a website or some sort of fileshare service (like yousendit) for me to download...

The songs you submit can be any kind as long as they came out in the 80's. Anyone who is reading this is welcome to be part of this project!

Deadline is May 1st, 2008. Feel free to email me at me@suzann.com

Any questions? Let me know!

Please send the songs to
Suzanne Lanoue
P.O. Box 865201, Tuscaloosa, AL  35486-0047

Thanks, hope you can join the project!

If you would like a copy of the project without participating, email me...

Suzanne Lanoue

Thanks for the invite, Suzanne.  I'll see if I can participate.  You may want to repost your email address since it's not showing up...just separate the characters some way.

Sounds like it would be fun!

Hugs,
Debbie

Hi Suzanne..it's Karacanary..thanks for thinking about me. From what I can gather, you are doing a favour to many in "burning" their songs on a CD for them...am I reading you correctly Suzanne?. I am sorry but my songs are already on CD compilations in WAV format (I think that it is a better sound although it takes up more room)...where all I do when I want to upload a song on SS is I do so via my Nero (copy tracks off the CD)then "encode" the song into MP3 via my Nero File Encoding function.
Thank you just the same Suzanne. Of course if I got the wrong impression please explain what you mean exactly

Regards
Karacanary

Hi! Well, that's not really the point, no. It's like posting songs here except it is all one "theme" (in this case, 80's music), with a certain number of participants, and on CD.

Each person mails me their songs on disk, tape, or whatever, with the money. (I collect business cards, so I usually put that you can send me the cards instead of money)

Say we have ten people participating, and each person sends in 3 songs. There would then be 30 songs on the disk or disk set.  They would all be 80's songs, and it would be like a karaoke rotation.  The songs would be listed on the CD thusly:

Take on Me by John Smith
The Warrior by Sue Patterson
Kokomo by Ted Jones
Let's Dance by Jerry Johnson
Manic Monday by Connie Morris
etc.

and then the next disk would have the same rotation but with different songs, unless there are duets or someone does not submit as many songs (just like real karaoke except on a disk).

And the set would come with a nice cover and a list of the songs, like a regular CD. Of course you can rip it on your iPod or whatever you want because it's yours by then.

The deadline is May 1st, so once I get all the songs by that deadline, I would figure out the rotation, burn the disks, print the covers, put it all together and mail each one back out to everyone within a month or two.

Unlike submitting your songs online, this is something that the participants will have forever and will not be deleted nor dependent on people's bad connections to the net. :)

There are no public comments or critiques allowed on these, though. They are Just For Fun.

It's just a fun project.  We have been doing these for years on JOLT.

It's true that SS and other sites have a more immediacy that you may prefer.  Of course it's all voluntary and EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!

We usually have at least 5 or 6 people participating, sometimes many more.  It depends on how many people send how many songs in as to how many disks are in the set.

In the past we have had many projects,  including: country, gender bender, decades (one song per decade 50's-now), disco, showtunes, R&B, 60's, Valentine's Day, Beatles, Christmas, etc.  Someone else came up with the 80's idea and tried to do the project years ago, but then stuff happened and they weren't able to complete it (that happens sometimes to some people), so I decided to revive the project.

Connie suggested that this time I invite people from SS and KSK as well.

Hope some of you can participate!

Suzanne

I was just over looking at the Archive folders for the Jolt projects and found there were over 25 projects made since 1998.  I made the first two and they were on cassette tapes because I didn't have any other means to record them.  Most of us recorded on cassette at that time.  Cheesy, yes, but we've come a long way!

Here are a few of the theme's we've done:

Angels Project - songs with reference to angels either in the lyrics or title.
The Colors Project- Songs with colors in lyrics.
Hair Bands, Metal and Rock - Hosted by Mark Cheetah - one of my favorite projects.
The 60's- any songs from the 60's
Jolt Gone Wild - Song with adult subject matter. Parental Guidance warning included.:)
Showtunes - Hosted by Suzanne
Weather the Storm - songs about weather, hurricanes, tornados, sun, rain, etc.
Time - songs mentioning time.  "Time After Time" was definately included. :)
Gender Benders - songs sung by opposite sex.

The artwork for the covers and labels are always colorful and creative.  Suzanne does a good job of getting the project delivered in a timely manner.

Hope we will get some participants from Singersshowcase!  Please have your song to her by the deadline.

Thank you for the invite to be on your CD project.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to your message.

Yes I would love to contribute.  Let me research the songs and see which ones were done in the 80's.  I will burn a few for you to pick from.

This is fun :)

And Great Idea!!

I would love to have a CD with SS singers on it, that is so cool..

Have a nice day Suzanne :)

Cheers
