Do you have a idea of what your top range is? If anyone you know (or yourself) can play guitar of piano, try to find what the top note that you can comfortably sing is. As an example, mine is "A" regular voice and "D" falsetto. That helps pin things down. |

While you are at it get the lowest note you can sing too. It's just a good thing to know. There's actually a lot of material out there for low voices if you go country. That's not my specialty but there are a lot of others who I imagine will be glad to help you out. |

Tom, How you doing. Did you ever get a chance to check out some different mic? I sing a bit on the low end and find Randy Travis, Josh Turner, Don Williams and George Strait songs usually work well for me. Jim-n-TN |

Hi Guy, WOW, this is some great info, I'm playing around now with a couple of mics, and My range seems to be in the Tenn. E.Ford ( 16 tons) to Ray Charles (Georiga) and Dean Martin's Hits, But trying some Elvis and Cash songs now at home. I made a list of the names you all gave me and I'll check them out. Yes, there is the odd rock song that is in the baritone range. But not many -- an extremely poor choice of material. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't want to have only a dozen or two songs I do. I want to learn new ones all the time, which sent me off to country. Now I do a lot of Randy Travis, Tracy Lawrence, George Strait, and Joe Nichols. There are others in that range, Dierks Bentley, Trace Adkins, etc. And some of the others can be in my range easily with one or two half-steps down. (That is actually George Strait, because he is one of those amazing voices which sounds good living at the top of his range as well as the bottom.) |

Hi, my suggestion is to visit Itunes Store and type a song title into the search box. You can then hear clips of dozens of different singers (on the most popular songs) A visit to Sing to the World, or similar Karaoke download site will allow you to check out karaoke versions, also on 30sec clips. You will pickup loads of info without paying a penny. Be lucky, Ian |
