I am so chagrined that i have used this forum to rant about MTU Hoster. Let me just say that in the last few days, to have been SO close to a conversion that I had planned on doing FOR A WHOLE YEAR, finally had the time and money to do it...to get so close, have everything blow up in my face, I kind of let my anger run out of my finger tips and onto this forum.

I have been so gently reminded by someone on the Hoster forum that they are doing everything they can to remedy this situation....I appreciate that for sure, and hope that eventually the problem will be solved...and that I'll have the necessary time to do an entire reload of 925 discs again and still have a brain left to host with!
LOL

You have no one to apologize to in my book. In fact, you have been a model of restraint compared to what I would have said and done.

Let's see what kind of company MTU is. Hopefully they will remedy the situation and get you going. Then you can say something good about them.

I hope you don't have to rip it all again. This is one of the most tedious, boring, frustrating things I've put myself through in years. It ain't fun.

And I know what it feels like to be so close to the finish line but not able to cross. Until I get dual monitors up I can only imagine how cool this is going to be. I hope I get my own system out of the house and in the Windseeker on Saturday night. But that's just a hope today.

Take care-
BH

They have some nerve. Their program is messing up not you. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if was VISTA related though. You have nothing to apologize for, I would be mad as heck.

PCDJ is going to get trashed by me at EVERY opportunity. Their technical support stinks. I have had multiple problems with installing their software on TWO different computers. They can kiss my butt. I want to spare other people from going through what I went through. I bought their software, it wasn't pirated, it wasn't free, I paid for it. I've installed other programs that were free and that work better.

Hon I wont relate all the horror stories about the way it was over 8 years ago. It took a lot of computer knowledge and experimenting (there was no one around that knew anymore than we did) with Win 98 SE. Limited ram and small hard drives And I ripped many cd's with Cavs encoder and decoder and used the player to play cd's and files on the hard drive..

I'm with Donny Tho I'll buy the second round LMAO

Karen,

Here's my thoughts... go with them as you will.

Rerip your songs in .mp3+g using audiograbber.

Play them with winamp.

You don't NEED any kind of hosting program. Keep it simple, short and sweet!

If you want the dual player kinda control, clubdjpro uses something similar.

Later, if you feel you want to go with something like that, then try the various demos. BUT GET USED to running computer first...

The way I did it was have the computer hooked up to channel one of my mixer, and my regular player to another channel. I could play mix music that way, other people's cdgs (had to have an a/b switch for the video)...

Then I started playing around with other "hoster" programs.

But through it all, I never had a problem with my mp3+g files.

I PERSONALLY would never let some program convert my files to THEIR format. Play mine... that's my steadfast rule!

I kind of agree with Matt on this one, I would suggest anyone to stay with the accepted norm from digital media which is the MP3 format. simple and will play on ALL YES ALL devices.  The MP3+G is the same with a graphic file that accompanies the music file...  pretty much the STANDARD.

The reality there is no one in a bar type setting that can tell the audio differance between an MP3+G and a Hoster special format .  SURE maybe if you use special studio grade instruments one might sound better.  The majority of people won'te be able to tell the differance between a Mp3 ripped at the lowest to the hightest settings .

stay with whichever hosting progam you like --THEY ALL HAVE BUGS and a honeymoon period to get the wrinkles out.  I just wouldn't convert the files

Karen, hopefully you won't have to re-rip everything again. but If you do...

I agree with Knightshow quite a bit. But since I'm currently doing this....

Audiograbber (which I used to rip at first) is an amazing program for free. But if you have a lot or discs to do, on my system Power CD+G Burner worked at faster speeds without errors. To me it was worth the $50 to do it in half the time.

Now this is using XP. I purposely did not go with Vista because I'm using XP here on the home computer and it looked like more software was geared towards XP. I don't know if your results would be the same.

I went and bought the Siglos player from the same outfit. I haven't used it yet onstage so can't really comment, but here at home it looks like it will get me started. I'm just dragging and dropping files into it's playlist and using the shortcut keys to run it. Looks like it'll work. Just got to get that dual screen mode up on the computer...

Tonight I'll still be using discs.

my thoughts on VISTA are well known. My stand alone computer that I use for my karaoke files (and it's NOT on the net at ALL) is an old win2kpro!
