I've contacted many karaoke producers, music publishers, and artists about karaoke versions of certain songs, with varied responses, and a good education in the process. But, does anyone know who controls Monster Hits and Legends (Sunfly sold the Legends Label)? While both are not my favorite, they do put out some songs (oldies) that others haven't. I'd like to request (beg for) songs, but see no way to contact them. Tom |

Zoom has a song request area. Some of the other companies did too. Most of them went out of business. Have you actually gone to their sites and looked for a way to contact them through email? |

Thanks sidewinder, but yes, I have contacted many on the phone and email. Monster Hits and Legends are the two I can't find any contacts for. "BC" from Sound Choice, and "K-Tel Music" were the best and most receptive. In fact, K-Tel even sent me their non-karaoke catalog and asked me to make requests from it for karaoke. Rhino, who has a 'trillion' (lol) oldies that are unreleased, said they weren't interested in karaoke at this time. Too, bad...it's only more money for them, right? Zoom rejected my requests because 'they weren't hits in England'. Go figure. Pocket Songs never acknowledged my inquiry, and Chartbuster also never replied. Tom |

Zoom acts like we don't matter.. ![]() Maybe since the dollar is sinking the Euro is a better deal. Tell K-tel everything we don't have already. ![]() Oldies are still very popular. |

Yes, Zoom seemed cold. But, I've already got 4 previously unreleased oldies from K-Tel. Three are original background tracks, the forth is so close, you'd never know. Here in NJ, at least where I sing, oldies are still hot, even with the younger crowd, thanks to movie soundtracks. Some even think they're new songs...hmmm..could this be a come-back for 50's-70's?? ![]() |

Zoom is a business as well, they have in fact produced requests for the US market by requests, however they do have to meet certain criteria for their business market plan as they have stated on other forums as well. Being a hit in the UK area is one - it's never been a secret. Monster is (I believe) just another reincarnation of All Hits - which you aren't going to find a contact info for at all. Haven't heard Legends broke of from Sunfly, so i'd contact Sunfly (but these are also UK based companies). |

Thanks Lonman, The woman at Sunfly had told me they "no longer have the Legends Label" , it went to an Asian company. No further info. That was also easy to tell by the phonetic doowop background to ABC's of Love by Frankie Lymon. LOL |

So are you saying Legends discs may soon be not as good? |

I liked them better beforethey got sold. I'm a Sound Choice man, but I buy from whom ever has the song I'm looking for. Legends came out with a few oldies that no one ever put out, so I bought the disc. There is a distinct difference in the older Legends and the new. This disc has both the older pre-released (Sunfly) Frankie Lymon & Little Anthony and the newer previously unreleased on the same disc. It's easily heard. Hey, I'm sure some folks are ok with it, but I love the harmonies and timing in doowop, and singing the background phonetically...wellllll. I really can't base the new owners on a disc here and there. They all have bombs in the mix. Like any genre of music, you have to have the 'feel' (groove) to make it happen. They don't 'feel' oldies. ![]() |
