people do not have to pay to hear me sing, so I guess my singing is priceless. I guess this probably a boring answer but I love to hear the elderly belt out some song that you first heard when you were about 3 years old and had completely forgot the song existed. Norma in Seymour IN is priceless.

I'm going to say the "priceless" moment for me is the first time I saw Ron's grandson sing he was 3 at the time. Now don't get me wrong here, I have seen children sing at karaoke shows.. but to sing at 3 is totally "priceless" And I love to allow kids sing in private parties..
They are so precious when they get up and sing.
I just gave Ron a pic the other day I'll see if I can Post it soon.
I have the .JPG on a CDR and may post it soon on my company's site as soon as it's open. Right now, I just have the home page up.

When I started in the karaoke business I was the bartender/KJ at a Chinese restaurant. In the restaurant they had a small koi pond in the bar with some fish in it.
One night during the karaoke show, a patron got a little drunker than she should have, and managed to stumble into the fish pond. She looked like one of those guys in the old western movies when they get knocked into the horse trough in the street. The look on her face?
PRICELESS.

I went to a venue occassionally... and they recently lost an elderly person that used to come in, and sing the most wonderful stuff from the "Rat pack" times...
They keep her song slips in a cedar box on top of the karaoke equipment...
She's maintained a place of honor!
NOW THAT's Priceless.
I also have a photo dedication page, where one of my online friends from another forum passed away. Her brother gave me her photo, and I've been proud to host it there...

I had a guy who "had" to make a little announcement before his song. The place was packed and I asked him quietly to make it quick so we could keep moving. He called his girlfriend up, got on his knees and proposed. She was shocked. He was holding the microphone down above his knees, but it still picked up "say yes, just say yes...." over the mains while she stood there dumbfounded. That was priceless to me.
Well, she took the ring (didn't say yes though), he sang his song, though I suggested maybe he would want to be with her. She was passing around the ring to others in the bar while he was singing. Normally, wouldn't she put it on and show it off?? Needless to say, when he was done I had to jokingly comment something to the effect that I told him I knew he shouldn't have sung that song. It was a riot for all (but not the proposal to her it would seem). Never saw them before that night, and not since.

Ron had another one tonight.. this was so great.. and I didn't expect Ron to do this BUT..
Anyway Ron does this deal where he sits the person down on a chair on the dance floor and plays the Karaoke track for "Birthday" by the Beatles.
well.. as Ron and His Daughter weren't singing during an instrumental Break I wispered in his ear that there was a walker (for the Elderly) behind the Big screen. mean while these singers & guests from the opposite sex of the person whose birthday it was, were dancing around him. Ron went to grab it and suprize him with it as he attempted to stand up... Needless to say.. IT WAS...
Priceless

My priceless moment was when my daughter sang for my birthday.
(Her first public song)
She even took lessons just so she could have the nerve and ability to sing.
I was very pleased.
Priceless!
Just sayin'

My Priceless Moment, By Mikey Valentino........A long time ago when i had hair and didnt need Depends to re-assure me of making a puddle on the floor, I remember a scared gangaly kid walk into a karaoke bar one night. Really looked out of place, ya know what I mean? Not a very snappy dresser, sort of looked lost and afraid at the same time. Well, he walked up to the bartender and asked, "how much is a Coca Cola Mr.? The bartender sensing this kids nervousness, poured him one on the house.
The kid walked up to the KJ and asked how he could sign up to sing a song or two, the KJ gave him some slips, a book and a pencil, the Kid was "Overwhelmed" with gratitude. He sat at a table towards the corner of the Karaoke stage, but not to conspicuious as to be noticed by everyone in the room. He tried just to blend in with the rest of the crowd, but no one sat near him, or talked to him, it was like he never existed at all.
Poor Kid, the KJ thought, feeling sorry for the loner at the table, "Maybe I will get him up and out early just so he doesnt feel to out of place.
The bar was filling up with singers fast. The KJ knew he would have to start soon with the rotation growing, so he went up to the kid sitting at the table, and said, "Got a slip to turn in to me??" The kid turned to the KJ and in a hushed tone, stated, "I Cant read sir, could you possibly have "Great Balls of Fire" by Chuck Berry? The KJ said, "Don't worry Son, I have it, " The singer said thanks, and the KJ filled out the slip for the out of place young man who had stumbled into this Karaoke Bar for the first time.
All the tables were full now, and no one had even bothered with the young man sitting by himself, alone, and waiting to sing. The KJ opened up the show, and the energy was "Electric."
The KJ wasnt sure how to work the new kid into the rotation with so many talented Regulars already signed up, so he made a bold and decisive decision. "Ladys and Gents, we have a new singer in the house tonight, and we would like to make him feel welcome." The new singer, still feeling out of place, began to sweat. "Even though he has never sung here before, said the KJ, I want you all to treat him like he was one of the regulars here like our Karaoke Family". Now the Kid was really getting nervous, "the KJ went on, Here he comes, singing a classic song by Mr Chuck Berry," Now the Kid was "Frantic" he heard his name announced by the KJ, "Ladies and Gentleman here he is..." the music for his song started to play, the crowd, whipped into a frenzy by now, from the KJ's introduction applauded louder than ever, the Kid stood up, walked towards the stage, 'PULLED OUT AN AK-47........
Oh well, I guess some singers can't stand the pressure......Now thats Priceless!!!!!!
OK you add an ending to this story you think would fit that would be priceless....

One of the most priceless moments my partners and I ever experienced was watching Brian Douglas perform in the Brio Lounge at the Radisson in Albuquerque. Too bad that venue has gone to ruin. In the old days singers and karaoke fans could be assured of at least one priceless performance every week.

P.S. As a result of an interesting alert from one of our Guild KJs, I'm signing on to the forum this morning for the first time after a two-year hiatus. Really glad to see Michael V. is still around. I hope Kool Karl is still here, too. I continue to enjoy his newsletters immensely. I look forward to catching up and having some fun with you all online in the new year.

One priceless moment that I had was that someone dared me to sing this one opera aria at karaoke and I couldn't turn down the bet. So I ended up singing this one song--- when the music started the place got really silent, and I thought "Oh no! I'm stuck doing something that is going to get me booed off the stage". Anyway, during the song, this really tough-looking guy that looked like he might be a member of the Hell's Angels looked as though tears were coming to his eyes and he made a quick bee-line for the Men's room. After the song was over, the crowd just erupted into cheers and strangers were coming up giving me hugs. To this day, I don't know what to think of the experience.

My appologies to those of you who saw the previous post that resided here.. It was quite "unprofessional" of me to say the least.
To Barb: It was great hearing from you. We do need to get out to meet in a venue to sing.. My personal apologies for the mistake on your identity.
BTW: It is kinda "priceless" to watch me sing 'eh I still mess up a song or two now and then..
