I am new to karaoke and was looking for a good version of Eagles songs, the people at Ace Karaoke told me the very best is the sound choice 8125 but they don't carry it.  So i looked online at e-bay and found one but it is $300. is this normal for this dics?  input greatly appreciated.

I've seen them go for as high as $500 per disc - luckily I got mine for $25 when it was still in the store which the last time was around 94-95.  Is it a great disc, it is the best Eagles disc IMO, but is it necessary anymore?  Nah, Zoom has a decent Eagles disc - actually a couple of them that aren't QUITE as good, but are a very close second.  Check into those.

Haha Im one of the silly ones who paid 125$ for mine on ebay which is actually pretty cheap..but as Lonman said its really not needed I bought the Zoom one also before buying the SC one & theyre just as good. To tell you the truth the only one song that gets sung alot is Hotel California at our shows..So IMO you should save your $ & get the Zoom one.

I think the most requested off of 8125 (at my show anyway) is
Hotel California
Desperado
Heartache Tonight
One Of These Nights
Witchy Woman
Tequila Sunrise

These are pretty much regular songs at least once or twice a week.  Which all but Witchy Woman are available on the Zoom discs.

I'm using backstage for my eagles songs.  It's not bad.   Five bucks vs. $500   go with the backstage.  Remember you trying to make money with this.

The backstage disc is good if there is nothing else available.  But for the low price it does have a couple songs that are almost exclusive to that line & make it worth picking up jmust for those - Get Over It is frequently done.  Take It Easy is also the other, the rest are under par for the most part & the Zoom disc will handle those nicely.

But not necessary anymore to need to pay $100-500 for.  Other brands out that will do just as nicely.

that's very surprising, I think one of their best song is, New Kid in Town and it's quite easy to sing!

for a brand new KJ, sure, that's a valid point.

After YEARS of being in this business, I finally broke down and bought the 8125 from Doowop.com when they had it on "sale" for half off. Actually, ALL their discs were on sale during that time, and I made a HUGE order... around a thousand dollars worth. So when I asked about the 8125 they had for $500, the guy broke down and gave me the half off it. It was a used copy, too!

It's been through a disc doctor, and won't read right on my computer, but I finally managed to make a copy of it for my computer.

And yes, I DO find that I prefer these versions. Everytime I played the legends versions or the Backstage version, I cringed... although they weren't TOO bad. But for me, it was worth it.

I got a lot of ribbing from the online community when I said I bought it. But to me, having that one and 8148, I am just enough of the collector that I had to have them.

When I played them in the venue, I know I PERSONALLY felt better. But did I get any compliments from my customers??

Only one! And he had sang to it at another show, and prefered that one.

I just can't justify spending hundreds of dollars on a Single disc.   My favorite series of Karaoke discs are the 8100 series into the 8200 series by sound choice.  I've got about half of those discs and I am looking for the rest.   8147 "Why don't we get drunk and sing"  the songs of Buffett is my favorite KJ disc.  I did pay mid $20's for that disc,  but to be honest that is rare for me.  Since 2000  most of my purchases have been the yearly updates from chartbuster.  My current set has about 6500 songs which includes doubles.  This collection is more than adequate to do a professional kJ show   I don't add monthly sets because they fill my song book with songs that a year from now no one will sing.   For a new KJ I would look at the DK  set.   Lot of good songs for the money.  I find the little flute melody line annoying but it really helps a new Karaoke singer.  The way we expand our business is to introduce and then add new singers to our show and  then to other shows.  As Buffett says once that bug bites you, you live with the sting. I've left the DK doubles in my song book for that reason.

Another suggestion is a CD+G manufacturer called Sound Quest.  It is a fairly good quality, much better than Backstage - (any old peice of crap is better than Backstage.  The Zoom and Legends are fairly good as well.  The SQ disc has been the best of those so far.  The 8125 is the only burned disc I have in my collection of 360 discs.  It is well worth the investment to stay legit doing shows.

On the Zoom Eagles 2 disc a popular somg is "The Greeks don't want no Freaks"  Great tune to get the crowd laughing.

Cheers

Oh MY, some of my backstage eagle songs do sound like crap.   Just pulled them out and listened to a couple.   Now that I have a choice i'll be adding a new eagles cd to my collection.  But not sound choice.

Thanks
