Hi, I just purchased a Microboards-qd-52-02 cdg duplicator to copy my custom discs which are starting to deteriorate , it is a nice easy standalone unit recommended by folks on this forum, I'm very happy with it. My question is :What is the best and easiest way to make or duplicate the labels for these discs?

![wave ](./images/smilies/emot-wave.gif) Tommie Tunes,
I've been using "NEATO" by FELLOWES. I'm sure people use others, but it's VERY easy, and that's good for me. I forget what I paid for the initial software, but their website would have all that info. Just google "Neato" and you'll find all the info pertaining to it. Just my :2cents: .

ps: Naturally you'll need printing and scanninig capabilities ![yes ](./images/smilies/emot-nod.gif) .

Get a lightscribe unit & compatible discs or get a thermal cd label printer which will print directly on the disc label side - still need compatible discs. Otherwise paper labels which I know some kj's won't play as they can flake off & jam the players.

I have never had a paper lable come off in a player. 10 years worth of copies.
I use Print Shop 10. I have created thousands of labels. Today you can scan in a label and print it out.
I had to make some adjustmenst to get the labels to come out right. Print out alignment issues. To match the paper blanks.
If you plan on printing paper labels, buy a printer that has separate colored ink cartridges. Saves a lot of money. But costs a lot of money. HP Business Inkjet 2800 Printer $499. You can find better prices, with coupons at Staples.
You also need special disc blank paper. http://www.ccssinc.com/index.php/cPath/28
Don't use colored discs, they tend to be a waste of money. Poor reproduction quality. I use Sony blanks. (silver discs only) Buy only on sale, at Staples. Staples always has money off coupons for spending so much money.

If you have a scanner it's easy, but you will need an art program to import it to, so you can line up the labels to print in the right paper location.
Also, before you waste your time copying, get an electric (not hand crank) DISC DOCTOR to polish out as many scratches as possible. You want to get the cleanest copy you can get.

It only takes once! I had one come off & jammed the player to the point I had to pull it out for the night. Luckily I ran 4 players so it didn't affect the speed of the show at all. I was very aware of paper labels after that.

At least 18,000 (probably much more) disc plays and never had one pop off.
They could actually be removed if it's freah, but once they get sqwished on you'll rip the foil off with it. You'll have a clear disc in one hand and the label and foil in the other.
At least with the ones i used. Maybe cheap thin labels without a lot of stickum might come off.

Great for you to be so lucky, like I said it only took once. I had never had a problem with them before that or since that, but yes it did happen & I check the labels more closely.

![wave ](./images/smilies/emot-wave.gif) lonman,sidewinder,Tommie Tunes,
The reasons I suggested NEATO is, with the included software, there are no alignmet issues when using my scanner. (hp psc 2210 all in one) Labels are right on first shot. All your labels are available from them, competitively priced, plus they send "special offers" for numerous products via email.
I actually did come across a patrons disc where the label was not applied correctly,
( lump ), and my player spit it out. (thank god) Now I always check, like lonman, to ensure that discs with that type of labels won't be "problematic". However, my personal discs ( back ups ) have never been a problem. I think it has to do with the way they're applied, and the type of paper used, as well as the adhesive, and where and how they're stored. Just my ![2 cents :2cents:](./images/smilies/twocents.sml.gif) .

You have no legal right to copy their label anymore than you do their disc.
Everything is protected with a copyright. Art work, photographs, discs, music, newspaper articles, Playdough....
