I've been surfing this forum for days and still need help!
I've ripped some discs that didn't identify the tracks.(track1.mp3 etc.) I've read many mention CD+G Autoname. I can't find it anywhere! I have KJPro, I need Autoname. Will Autoname rename my unidentified tracks? Where do I get it (Autoname) from? Any other suggestions are appreciated. I DON'T want to manually rename all the files!
    Thanks!

Satch,

Renaming software cannot populate the respected fields without a point of reference!
Meaning..... If your audio file isn't ID Tagged, or you don't have some type of
List i.e. txt, csv, inx, juketxt, etc. You cannot utilize a Database.
What software are you Ripping with?

Time To Go Fishing!

Kind Regards,
sw00000p

Although I mentioned CDGAutoname in a different post,
Your best bet would be to get Roxbox Rip-n-Zip program
for ripping your discs.
It's only  $5 and it works better than CDGAutoname
because it names the tracks from KJPro database as it's ripping them.

Plus Frank set it up so that you can use either your KJPro Master database or your Main database. This is important because the Master database is the complete database that comes from  KJPro and they never correct mistakes. The Main database is the one that you create and edit from the master list.

CDG Autoname  only uses the KJPro Master database, not the Main.
(Although it is possible to temporarily create a new Master database from your Main database)

But you might be further ahead if you bought RnZ and then re-ripped your discs.

You could use CDGAutoname to rename your tracks but without a point of reference (namely the Disc ID and track number) you have to tell CDGAutoname what Disc Id you want to use and then click on each track separately to name the tracks,
so it's not automatic, more like a semi-auto, but it's faster than
naming each one manually.

The correct name for CDGAutoname is actually CD+G Autoname.
CDGAutoname was never shareware as far as I can tell.

It looks to be freeware, and only released as a beta with a time limit
and only on usenet.
On usenet, there were "modified" versions out there that removed the time limit.

From CDG Autoname's README File:

CD+G AutoName is brought to you by the original karaoke CDG channel #CD+G
now located on the Outsiderz IRC network.

CD+G AutoName was created by RADGUY.

Overview:

What exactly does this program do you ask?  In Automatic Disc Selection mode
it provides single mouse click automatic renaming (DiscID - Trk - Artist - Title) of
the bin files created by Cdrwin. In Manual Disc Selection mode it allows you to
select a disc and apply any song name from that disc to any file currently on your
system.  This version of CD+G AutoName generates custom lookup tables from
either Kjpro or Karaoke Song List Creator. I you have both of these programs
then you can use both database lookup tables simultaneously.

CD+G AutoName is FREE! Kjpro and KSLC are commercially available programs.

Information on purchasing Kjpro is available at http://www.kjpro.com
Information on purchasing KSLC is available at http://www.airwer.com

This new version is still in BETA testing.  It has undergone preliminary testing but
there is always a possibility that bugs exist. Also, the Kjpro and KSLC databases
do contain occasional errors therefore it is highly recommended that you
carefully review each name change before you click the apply button.

After applying monthly updates to either Kjpro or KSLC you will need to go into
CD+G AutoName's Options screen and run "Build Lookup Table" to make the
updates available to CD+G AutoName.

The first time you run the program click the [OPTIONS] button and go to the
Database tab and click the build lookup table buttons. You can also set the
song naming and file types options to your preferences.

If you are new to this program then I highly recommend that you make some
copies of some existing songs and use them to experiment with how the program
works so you do not accidentally misname any songs in your database.

Instructions for naming new rips:

1.  Rip your tracks with Cdrwin.  Use Cdrwin's Name Sequentially option and
name the files "DiscID_"  (Example SC7501_)  Using the example the bin files
will be would be named SC7501_01.bin SC7501_02.bin and so on.  Be sure to
enter the DiscID EXACTLY as it appears in the Kjpro or KSLC database.

2.  Select Automatic mode in the drop box at the top of the main CD+G
AutoName window then select the drive and directory that contains your rips.

3. Double click the first file in the file list box. If the Disc & Track are located in
the lookup database(s) a new proposed name will appear. You can either click
[Apply] to accept the proposed name or [Skip] to make no name change for the
selected file.  You can also manually edit the proposed name before clicking the
[Apply] button. Do not change the DiscID-Trk format or the separator characters
if you want to be able to rename the track using AUTOMATIC mode with
different name options at future time.

4. CD+G AutoName will advance one song down the file list each time the
[Apply] button is clicked. To stop the process before reaching the end of the file
list box just click [Stop]. Please note that the program can only be used to
rename files with the extensions of .zip .bin .cdg .wav .mp3 .mpg & .mpeg plus
one custom file extension that can be specified in the program options.

If at some later point you decide to change the CD+G AutoName naming options
you can quickly rename all your songs, in AUTOMATIC mode, using the new
format that you specify in naming options.

Instructions for naming files using Manual Disc Selection mode:

1. Select Manual mode in the drop box at the top of the main window.
This is the mode to use when you have files that do not have the DiscID and
TrackNo in a format that CD+G AutoName can automatically recognize.

2. Enter the DiscID# that contains the song names of the files you want to
rename. Be sure to enter the DiscID# exactly as it appears inside Kjpro or KSLC.

3. Click the "Load Disc Info" button and the disc tracks will load into the song
selection grid.

4. Now just pick the file you want to rename in the file list box and click on a
song name for the file in the song selection grid.  You can then review the
original filename and the proposed filename at their respective boxes located at
the bottom of the program window.

5. Click the Apply button to rename the file. The file selected in the file list box
and the song selected in the song selection grid will automatically advance by
one. This will make it very easy to rename an entire disc.

If you have any comments or you find a bug please message RADGUY in

Satch,

That's an awful lot of wind and you still can't rename them Automatically without a point of reference.

Satch,

Save yourself some time. Freeware products Do Not always give Clean Rips.
Get Clean Rips with Power Karaoke CDG Ripper or ultimately Microstudios.
A small investment that will prove to be an assert.
Do a Couple of Hundred of them... and you'll see what I mean.

Note: You Go Cheap!... You Get Cheap!

You can create a point of reference by telling CDG Autoname your KJPro disc ID
as described in the section I posted under

Instructions for naming files using Manual Disc Selection mode:

It's not fully automatic, but better than renaming them manually.

Doing a quick check on usenet, I do see that CDG Autoname is posted on there.

Another possibility to create a point of reference is to use a renaming program
like 1-4a Rename.
If your tracks are named track1, track2, etc
1-4a rename can for example replace "track" with "SC8001-0"
to get SC8001-01, etc.

That example only works for the 1st 9 tracks, but 1-4a is sophisicated enough
to rename all the tracks for one disc with one pass.

Check out Tricerasoft's CDG Ripper.
Load your disc
Type in disc number ONE TIME and........
POOF! All Of The Fields Are Populated.

Or if you have a lot of Disc's you could try
The Super Neto Method explained by diamondd!

Thanks for the replies!  I've used both Audiograbber initially and Power CDG Burner on most of my disks. From what I've heard Autonane will use the Kjpro database to name the files if I point it to the disc number. I've tagged a number of the files. I've tried/am trying a number of software players and hosters. As you all know, they all have good points and shortcomings. Most are looking for/displaying file names when searching and the Id3 info seems useless. I guess I tend to be over-detailed and want all my files perfect. I've got some cheap/obscure discs that PCDGB didn't recognize (HotLine, Standing Ovation, TopTunes, SGB, Backstage)
I'll continue to look for CD+G Autoname but if anyone can post a link to the download that would be most helpful. Thanks again!

Satch
