Ok I have JustKaraoke with about 2500 songs. I copied the access database table to excel. I tried to import it in KJpro and under "files of type" after clicking the "import excel file" but it only lets me pick access files. I tried the alternative method to copy and paste all the rows but I get a "text is too long to be edited" thats because it tries to fit all the info title/artist/.... all in the first title column. Any ideas.... I just want to print the songs out nicely. Thanks |

KJPro does a terrible job at explaining this procedure. What you need to do is format your JustKaroke excel file properly. KJPro needs the proper headings for each column. The best way to see what KJPro needs is to: 1) use KJPro and create some dummy custom songbook (call it Junkbook) 2) Tag a single disc and save it to Junkbook so there are some songs in the Junkbook. 3) Use the Export to Excel button on the Junkbook songbook and name the file Junkbook.xls 4) KJPro will auto open Junkbook.xls and show you the format of the columns it needs which are SongBookName,Title,Artist,Description,DiscNo,TrackNo 5) I would erase all the song data in Junkbook.xls and leave just the top Header row with the column titles. 6) Take your JustKaraoke spreadsheet and paste the data under the appropriate column header. You don't need to enter anything under the Description column. You do need to make sure that the DiscNo and TrackNo are under separate columns. 7) Under the SongbookName column enter the name you want for this new custom songbook (call it NewBook) for each song in your list. 8 ) Save the spreadsheet as NewBook.xls 9) In KJPro, after you click the button to "Import Excel File", KJPro pops up a messagebox that gives you some important information. 10) Under "File of type:" , select Microsoft Excel. You should now be able to see your file NewBook.xls and click on the "Import" button 11) The Import Spreadsheet wizard will start. Click on the box for "First Row Contains Column Headings" and click the Next button. 12) On the next window, click the radio button for "In An Existing Table" and then click the dropdown button to select the table "CustomDetail". Click the Next Button. 13) Click the Finish button and it should have created a new Custom songbook named NewBook that you can print. Pretty simple right? DD |

OK It also says right below those options "Not all file types are installed by default . To add other file types, run the setup program, click Add/Remove, Data Access, Change Option. Additional file types are also available in the Office 97 ValuPack." I believe this is referring to MS Access 97 or Access 2000 if you have that loaded on your PC. I have Microsoft Office 2000 loaded on my PC, and so I have MS Excel listed as one of the default options. Something that I got from the KJPro website that you may have already seen: How can I import songs from Excel? The Excel Import button doesn't work. Answer: An easy alternative method for importing songs from Excel is with "Copy" and "Paste Append". Here's how: 1. Set up your Excel spreadsheet so the songs have the following column headings: Title Artist Manu DiscNo TrackNo (Note: If you've exported a songbook from KJ Pro, it will have a column called "Description". Rename this column to "Manu". If there is already a column called "Manu" in addition to the Description column, delete the "Manu" column and rename "Description" to "Manu". Sorry, this is a quirk in the program.) 2. Select the range of songs you want to copy, including the column headings in your selection. (KJ Pro needs these to match up with the fields in the program.) Use "Control+C" to copy them to the Windows clipboard (or "Edit" - "Copy"). 3. Open KJ Pro and open the custom songbook you want to copy the songs to by clicking "View/Filter" under Custom Songbooks. Select your custom songbook from the drop-down box. Then click on the "Add Songs" button on top of the window. 4. Click the "Paste Append" button on top of the Window. Your Excel songs should be pasted from the Windows clipboard into your custom songbook. I was able to confirm that this procedure works. I modified a spreadsheet listing of songs with the proper column headings and was successfully able to copy those songs along with the column headers and paste append those songs into an existing custom songbook. If the copy/paste method doesn't work, try seeing if you can go into the settings for MS Access 2003 and change the setup to add additional file types. DD |

Hi, KJ Pro Version 2.5 has FIXED the Import from Excel problem. Insert the following Titles (IN EXCEL): Title, Artist, Description, DiscNo, TrackNo and fill in the blanks, SAVE. (KJ Pro)Import from Excel, Save.... Poof Done! Kind Regards, sw00000p |

Hi when I tried to export to excel I receive this message.. The format that enable you to output data as a microsoft excel, rich text format, MS-DOS text or html file are missing or incorrectly registered in the windows registry. run set up to reinstall kjpro or if you are familiar with the settings in the registry try to correct them your self Apreciate any help. ddegip |

bigbuck, As Diamond D said, you need to format your tracks PROPERLY in Excel! This way one cell won't contain too many characters. What method did you use to import the access files into Excel? This is where your problem is because I just imported another Excel file into KJ Pro. I opened Excel, select Import Data, configured the fields and import. Kind Regards, sw00000p |
