I am just starting out as an independent kj and I'll be using my laptop to run shows. I still need to build a core collection of songs. Should I try to download a collection or buy files? I found this site that seems too good to be true....they say you can download as many mp3+g's for only a one-time fee of $70.... Please look at this site and give me advice -- I'm so confused about how to build a new collection of songs.....

Jian, I suspect the reason you are not getting more replies to your question is that the site your posted smacks of piracy and theft. The professional KJ's here have spent big bucks on songs. By that I mean thousands of dollars over the years building a song set. This investment has set them apart from guys with home music systems running around charging fifty bucks to dj a party. Karaoke has allowed KJ's who were good at their business to make money on their investment. Many on this forum use their KJ systems to support themselves and their families. The advent of computer karaoke music and theft of karaoke songs is undercutting their business. Not only are the makers of karaoke songs being pressured in loss of sales but the KJ's here on this forum are having their income pressured by pirates running around undercutting their prices to do shows. I'm not suggesting that you are involved in this. I'm just suggesting that's why you are not getting more posts. I recommend you spend a little time cruising this site and reading other posts which contain a lot of information on karaoke. While the mp3+g format is coming on strong the sale cdg disks is still dominant. |

If you want legal downloads try www.tricerasoft.com which has Zoom, Panarama Top HIts Monthly, Music Maestro and Forever Hits. |

www.selectatrack.com is another you can get good downloads from - more UK based companies but lots of good songs none the less. |
