I would like your reaction to the performance of one of the regulars at my show. You can find a video of Peter singing Great Balls Of Fire on this website. http://karaokehotline.com/ scroll down about 2/3 of the way on the home page and you'll find Peter's video PS: This is my friend Donna's website. She was instrumental in my getting into the business. She's been doing karaoke for years, has several systems and can handle large outdoor events. I've had her input at every turn as I set things up for myself. |

Seems like the crowd really loves him. He looks like he is having a lot of fun too. I wish everyone had as much fun all the time. I would welcome him with open arms. |

Seems like the crowd is into his performance & quite frankly i've heard WAY worse so there would be no problem with him at our shows! |

there is a guy around here, who is plain out wierd. and he admits it. but he is really animated when he sings (sometimes poorly and off key). he mostly sings "chick" songs, but he does have a higher singing voice so it suits him well. he is one of the nicest and most understanding guys I know. several other KJs in the area refuse to let him sing , or only do so every 3rd rotation. the guy loves karaoke, so obviously this does not make him happy. when he mentioned this to me I told him that will NOT happen at my show. he does understand that I do have to be careful where I put him in each rotation, so as not to put anyone else off. he gets that he is wierd so he has no problems with that. Yes I would Value having Peter at my show. |

When I was at the karaoke show at Ellis Island last year in Vegas, one of the first singers was a guy dressed up like Elvis. I really get turned off by Elvis emulators. Much to my surprise, relief and utter joy, the fellow was another Peter. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of his performance. What a blast! |

I will admit, if Peter did that song every week I might get a bit fatigued from time to time....but believe me I have heard worse on a weekly basis. |

I value every singer no matter the talent level. I'm not sure of your motive for picking him out. |

Not everyone needs to be GREAT to be welcome at a show. There was a dude at the show I go to two weeks ago. Followed almost all of my songs with another song by the same artist... and he was awful! And a couple regs came up to me apologizing. I told them I was kinda flattered that he thought the songs I was singing were that popular that he wanted to do another by the same artist. Billy Joel, Bob Segar, Elton John... heck, even Nickelback! heheheh And he's trying to blues it up and spontaneously rap it up on the mic... I'm sitting there going, "Dude, just SING the smeggin' SONG!" ![]() It's fun to have a bar that gets excited when you get on the performing area and they look forward to the obscure stuff you pull outta your tail! And even more when it excites others to do the same! |

I think most people have forgotten that Karaoke is NOT about singing. it is about having fun and sharing it with others....drinking does usually enter into it. Peter has it covered better than most |

My only comment with singers like Peter is there is a very fine line between liking his performance and MOCKING his performance . As long as the crowd gets into it it's fine --but I've been to places where someone like "peter" is getting mocked ..but just doesn't know it. Thats' when as a KJ you step up and assist the situation somehow so NO SINGER feels like they are being ridiculed |

My only comment with singers like Peter is there is a very fine line between liking his performance and MOCKING his performance . You are so right. Peter is beloved to his "fans". Having personally invited him to my show (the first person I sent an invite to), I am vigilant about that concern, particularly when I see a large group of people come in who are new at my show |

At first glance you can not tell if he's a foreigner singing an English (American) song with an accent or if he's challenged. ![]() But you see...his fun is the "singing" part. In his mind he's under the bright lights. It's all about the singing and how much fun it is. |

I want to add something to an above comment about KJs that won't let every singer sing in every rotation. I have had some individuals over the years that just were not the best singers. Some were challenged and some just sucked. But at my show that doesn't matter. And they told me that they were not allowed to sing as much at other shows. ![]() First of all, if you are a KJ that discriminates toward any singer because you preceive them to be not up to "your" standard or a detriment to "your" precious high energy show, you suck as a KJ and a member of the human race. ![]() Second, you are practicing discrimination if they are challenged. (and even if they just suck) Third, you put yourself and the bar owner in a discrimination law suit position. I would be the first person to turn your A$$ in. And be the first witness in the case against you. ![]() |

SW...AND......what if they want to sing hip-hop at YOUR show and bring their own original disc in? What do you tell them in order NOT to discriminate? Better yet...what if they're African-American and play the RACE CARD? Then What?..besides an azz-whoopin'?? ![]() To keep on thread, YES i would welcome Peter at my show- actually ANYONE- for the fun-factor. That's what it's all about...regardless if they're mocking his english or William Hung-ish appeal! ![]() We get lots of japanese here in hawaii- they love watching lava flow for some reason- and they mimic english songs all the time- makes it hilarious and endearing for those of us listening to it. You realise that's the only english they know! |

I was lost in Hawaii looking for something i saw in a store before we had to get on the airplane. So running around like a nut, i saw 2 Japanese sitting on a bench looking at a map. I snuck over to look at the map over their shoulders. I was still lost...The map was in Japanese... ![]() ![]() As far as a questionable disc at the show...my player could be broke, the disc didn't cue - to many scratches (my player is actually pretty sensitive,) can't play other peoples discs, is there any swearing in the song? I got a million of them. ![]() Race card??? I'm not fast in a long race, but not bad in a sprint.. ![]() As far as challenged people. I have one that comes to one job semi-regular. A guy sings with him and he sorta just moans and hums and makes some noises along with the music. And everyone is looking around wondering what the he** is going on. But if he has a song in. He "sings" every rotation. No exceptions. |
