Post subject:  Will I have enough power?
I have a gig thats Dj/Kj and will have around 400 to 500 people. I will be forced into using what I have available which is 4 JBL G2 Eons and 2 JBL Jrx 18 subs. Will this be able to handle this size of a crowd? Thanks  :shock:

Using all 4 G2's, 2 per side arrayed on top of 1 sub each - this will yield approx 1100 watts per side.  I would probably add 2 more of the JRX subs per side, but you should be ok.  Just make sure the tops are above the crowd.

The G2's are self powered.

We were looking to have the 2 g2's and 2 subs up front in the main dance area and use the additional 2 g2's to carry sound to the other end of the bar. Its a long bar.

Do you have a clue?  The G2 series is a 400 watt active speaker.  4 of them will equate to 1200 watts.  Add the 2 300 watt subs, this adds another 600 watts, so 1800 watts total.

I would personally still add 2 more subs for the other side, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Without knowing the layout of the room, I'd place the tops in a way that focuses their sound in the dance area. That's the most important thing.

I don't think you can stack Eons can you? So if they're each on their own stand it's a bit of trial and error. But don't run two of them too far back into the room. Keep them close. But too close side by side can give you phasing issues. Like I said it's trial and error unless you really know this system.

As Lonman stated you are  sub shy. You can't push a JRX like you can an MRX or an SRX. If it were me I'd put them together on the dance floor. Placing subs together can give you an extra 3dB of low end with the same number of speakers. They reinforce each other. Get there early enough to at least give it a try.

Alright Im thinking about possibly purchasing the PRX 515 or 525 speakers (2) my question though is could they be used with my Jbl JRX 18in subs and would they loop out to the G2's? Or could I get by without subs for awhile with these. Thanks

First of all I would like to say everyone I have seen on this forum has been very helpful and knowledgable in answering any questions that another member might have. I would like to personally thank Lonman who always goes out of his way to assist others in making a educated decision when it comes to their gear. Lonman you were right on the money with the QSC sub recommendation it ROCKED! The best overall sound ive heard in my system since starting this business. I ended up using 3 G2's, 2 JRX subs and the QSC and it was awesome. Filled the room with no problem and the place was packed with 400 people and a minimium of 40 people on the dance floor all night. Thanks so much  :)

While the QSC HPR181I is a very nice powered sub. From my experience, It's still probably the second best sub in it's price range. The Yorkville LS800P is still considered by most sound professionals, the king in the front loaded powered sub category. Put a dip in it at around 75Hz and set back and enjoy the ride.  As some of you know, I considered buying the QSC not to long ago, but when put side by side to the Yorkville it came in second. The only reason I am saying anything now is because I made note that you used the HPR181I and was very happy with it,( I came close to buying two myself) but just in case you were only renting it, give the Yorkville a listen before you buy. They are a little harder to find than the QSC's, but certainly worth the effort.

I think the warranty on the QSC (6 year) vs the warranty on the Yorkville (2 year) me be worth the small sound dimishment between the two.

If it were "small" I might agree. It's not a "small" difference, it's a "big" difference. I doubt the Warranty on either cabinet will ever be needed in any case. They are both well made. When I was listening to them I couldn't hear the warranty, but then again I wasn't listening for it either. I haven't read of any problems on the LS800P's and I certainly haven't experienced any, but I have read several articles and glowing reviews on the Yorkies. Back in the early 2000's Kia had a 10 year warranty, I didn't buy a Kia, I bought a Toyota, even though it only had a three year warranty, I never needed the warranty  on the Toyota, but I did read that a lot of Kia owners were sure glad they had the warranty. If you want to shop "warranty" thats fine, I took warranty into consideration when picking the Yorkvilles, but performance was the deciding factor. I was simply pointing out another option. The more options the better when making purchases.  I never tell anybody what to buy, I might give them a couple of suggestions, but I always tell them to do their homework and make up there own mind.
