I don't care if they write a big list of songs on the back of my slips. One song one slip wastes paper. You want to save money? Each of my singers gets their own place in the rotation and i pile their slips up on top of one another. After they sing that song it goes to the bottom of their own pile. Not a big deal. Every singer has a pile of slips. They could have one song in or 20. And the slip saves their spot in the rotation. |

I subscribe to the sing-one-bring-one mentality so i don't go overload crazy. Some of my regulars still bring up a couple because they know i'll let them get away with it I've seen other shows that have up to 5 lines for song requests per slip, but i'm used to throwing mine away in a small trash bag as i use them- habit i guess. Other slips also include the -5 to +5 for key changes (circle choice) and name of singer and STAGE NAME of singer, so as to not confuse kj. Being in a tourist area, my song slips reflect: 1. Singer's Name 2. Song Title 3. Occupation 4. Originally From (location) City/State/Country 5. The bottom part gives my show times and days of week, and a thank-you for supporting the show. -I leave it up to the singer to ask me to change keys- most of the time they write -2 and circle it next to the song title. ALL OF THIS gives me an easy introduction. Ex: " Please welcome up our next singer, a professional stripper from Auckland New Zealand, let's hear it for Zelda Hamstrony!" LMAO LOL LOL  |

WOW! Never thought about putting some of that info on the slips, but see how it may be a good idea. Thanks for the input. As for key change, The only discs I have that tell me what key the song is in, are the CBE 1-6. I live in fear of someone asking me what key a song from another disc is in, so they can tell me how many steps to adjust it to their voice. I wish more of the discs would put this information on the screen. Most songs I sing are from the CBE discs just for that reason. I know there are some keys that are difficult for me to sing, and I can adjust them before I start. |

I'll take 'em any way they come up. But I try to get them to put each song on it's own slip. That's so I don't get screwed up (it's easier for me) and so they can swap them out before their turn. Which happens a lot with the regulars. The board is open to the room and they are free to see what's being sung before them. And if something really goes over they often adjust what they are singing next. I'm still using 3x3 post-its. Nothing fancy for sure. At this point I couldn't change because some of these slips are over a year old. Some almost two. The faithful wouldn't want to have to rewrite them all out. |

Our slips have 3 slots on the front and back. Most singers prefer that then they dont have to worry about turning in slips. After a singer is in rotation we will take oral requests and can switch selections on the fly. All it takes is a right click on the singer Click singer history and dble click on the song. It takes about a second and a half. The rotation is tracked by computer not slips. It blows a srangers mind when they walk up and say do you have so&so? Click click Yea u wanna sing it? Wahats ur name click click Ok Your up in about 6 singers. One night greg was taking requests from a gal by text messaging on his cell phone. They do not need to look in the books for a number We just have the artist and title and can have it in the que in seconds. Our venue provides free WIFI access and with a laptop they can go on the web and search our data base karaoke DJ and spanish karaoke. They can also make a request list for songs we dont have. |

The key change info are for people that know a song is too high or low, not necessarily the precise key it's in. They will just put key up or down or down 2 or...etc. As for one song per slip, most of our singers hang on to their slips & will ask for them back at the end of the night so nothing is wasted. They control their stack, when they give me a new slip, I give them their old - or I will keep them until they leave. Some have piles that are well over 500 slips of songs they do, songs they want to try, songs that they DO NOT want to do again. But nowdays, I will just write up one slip & they will just tell me the song they want & I enter into the computer. May get into a central kiosk at some point, but right now I will keep the books going. |

I use CompuHost, so multiple requests are no huhu. You just enter them in the singer's list, and if they want to re-order them, insert another song, or whatever, it is no problem. |

Ever when I was using all slips I still had the rotation computerized. You can save yourself a lot of headache. Get a kiosk. Within a month you'll get about five or six slips a night. |

My regulars get a 4 X 6 index card with their "usual" songs printed on them. Once every six months, I reprint them with their "new usual" songs on them. In addition, I keep their used slips paper-clipped to the card so they don't waste my new slips. The first lady that got a card three years ago still uses the same slips that she filled out then. This saves me a TON of money in printing new slips. Plus, they like to feel like they are special and get their own card. I keep them in an index card box. It works very well. They are also responsible for returning them to me at the end of the night, so as to not add more work for me at the end of the night. I maybe throw away a dozen or so slips on a busy night. |

I save my singer's slips for them. I print out about 20 new slips for each night, customizing them for a holiday or birthday that week. Some of the slips are over five years old. If they get too ratty looking, or get spilled on, I'll rewrite them for the singers. I have room for one song per slip, but some people like to write several songs on a slip. That's fine. It's also surprising how many people write on the back (blank) side of the slip. I'll take as many as they want to hand in. It's easy to keep their place in the rotation that way. Many of my regulars just tell me to choose their songs for them. |
