Autumn or Fall is slow to come this year, we are still a couple of weeks away from stunning colour.
But on a picnic this afternoon I snapped these pics

Jian sadly nz is being converted to dairy. they are pouring water onto the most unlikely sites to make the grass lush. Every fibre of my Pagan being tells me it is wrong and that it goes against everything nature intended. It will end in tears, maybe not for this generation but certainly for the next.

The scenery you see here however is in the foothills of the alps and dairying hasnt quite reached that far. Merino sheep wander those bare looking hills and manage to grow the finest wool in the world

[font=verdana]Hi Vicki, If I didn’t know by your post that these pics were taken in New Zealand, I would think they were pics of my beautiful eastern Oregon or southern Idaho, Same type of terrain. I would move back out there in a heartbeat if I could convince any of my stubborn children to relocate.  You stated in another thread that NZ is about a decade behind, that would be fine with me, this world today is getting much too crazy and vulgar for my taste.  Soddam and Gomorah come to mind! then my friend perhaps we need to start our own community. Our country is indeed behind, but fast catching up in the worst ways possible :( We have the health care of a third world country. our crime rate and crime style have become very americanised, even here in this one horse town, children of 11 and 12 are attempting extortionate petty crime (my boss' boy got his phone pinched and the theives offered to give it back for $30 when the police picked them up they didnt blink an eye)

but in the country just less than an hour from civilisation there are still places you can live where no-one need lock a door. Only prob is there isnt any broadband :(

Wow, I'll repeat BlueRose's comment... I could almost swear those were pics of Eastern Oregon. Looks very similar to where they hold the National old time fiddler's convention in Weiser, Idaho too.

I almost moved there .... but, it would be VERY hard to give up all the greenery we have year round here in the Willamette Valley. Western and Eastern Oregon are pretty different, in term of scenery.

[font=verdana]Aahh,   :( Now you’ve done it, Mandilynn, made me home sick.  I have family in the Willamette Valley, 2 sisters that live in West Salem, 3 brothers, one in Oregon City, one in Lacomb, and the youngest brother, Senator Richard Devlin (name dropper) in Tualitin. We keep trying to get him to run for President, so we can take turns sleeping in the Lincoln bedroom…LOL  He probably wouldn’t let me though, as we have different party affiliations. I was always the odd one out, I liked the high desert country of eastern Oregon and Idaho, and the cowboys.  Can't handle all that rain you get in the Valley, but then it isn't any worse than all the snow here where I live now. Yep Mandilynn and I live right here in Canby OR. Eastern Oregon is a completely different landscape and climate compared to Western Oregon.
