I am running my show with a laptop and a Yamaha mixer (see sig for model).  I tried to do a test recording a couple of times with no success.  I used a stereo cable that was a two into one that I plugged the two RCAs into the record out lines from the mixer into the microphone line on my laptop.  I tried to use audacity and reaper both and all I got was static noise.  No vocals ... do I need to use a ground loop isolator coming back INTO the laptop also?  I use one coming from the laptop to the mixer for my music.  Is there a certain way to set up the software that I am missing or am I just way off in what I am trying to do here... Thanks in advance.  ~ D.J.

Check in the Programs / Accessories / Entertainment / Volume control
that your Mic. Line is not muted.
Check in Control panel / Sounds and audio devices that your input is correct.

What should the input be set on?  Thanks for the help.
