I am involved in graphic design, so If anyone here would like a design done for their cards, let me know.  I will not charge anything so long as I don't get bombarded with requests where it will take a ton of my time, which I doubt.  I will e-mail you the files so that you can have them printed from an online site such as vistaprint.  Or, if you like you can simply design your own with one of their templates and order them yourself.  My offer is basically for anyone that wants a design not shown or stock photography, etc.  All that I would as is that if you want me to use stock photography, at least pay for the pic.  That would usually run $4-$8, depending on the site/image size.

Thanks, Zack

Zack dude that appears to be going beyond the call of duty when all that was necessary was a simple apology to Karen :)

I apologized, and the offer still stands.  I love doing graphic design, so I don't mind it.  That's why I got into my own karaoke business too.  I finally decided I need to make a living doing things I love.  These two subjects are big ones for me.

There's actually a couple schools in New Zeeland that I'd love to attend for GD.

Being the crusty old dame that I am, an apology isn't necessary. I hope I've made myself clear...chuckle chuckle.

My dear V, thanks for sticking up for me..  And I've been meaning to say how much  I absolutely LOVE NZ - I was particularly taken with Gisborne for some reason..I skied the Remarkables, and I beachcombed in the north of the North Island. I enjoyed take-away food too much - in fact, gained about 20 pounds after having spent 7 weeks WALKING all over Europe....The peacocks were fantastic at one of the campgrounds we stayed at, other than they crapped all over the ground outside the ablution block....LOL. Learned how to drive on the 'wrong' side of the road in a big motorhome.

Anyway, thread hijack, but I've been meaning to comment on what an incredibly beautiful country NZ is  (ps: Have an uncle who lives in Auckland)

k

yeah its a cool country if you are into the outdoors, I rode horses from age 4. If, however, you are middle aged and staring a health crisis in the face then its a scary place to be. More akin to a third world country than an island paradise

It isn't difficult to have your cards made with your own design. I have 3 different cards made using printing shops (yes, I have too many interests). You just have to prepare your files using Photoshop, Illustrator or other graphics programs and send in the file to be printed. A lot of places have fairly inexpensive cards, 1000 for about $20 for 4/0 (full color on one side and nothing on other side). They are typically 80-100lb stock with aqueous coating with UV coating as well. It makes it really glossy and standout from other cards.

Here is what my card looks like front and back.

Did you do your logo all yourself?

Very cool and very creative!

:2cents:

Every business should use professional looking cards.   Many times it's the first impression people have of your business if they get the card from someone else.  And ideas are many times formulated from first impressions, whether they are right or wrong.

Homemade cards generally look like it.

Thanks. The logo was designed by a friend of mine. I don't think he spent more than an hour on the logos. I use the logos on my web site as well as my brochures. It's all about consistent marketing message. I took it in to Photoshop at 300 dpi and just filled in the text. Took me about 30 mins to make the file, then uploaded to the printer, a week later I got my cards via UPS. Because mine's 4/4 (full colors on both sides), it cost me about $65 for 1000. Both sides were coated so no worries there.

Can you share who you used for the printing?

Do they have a web presence?

I use zooprinting.com but I have used several other ones, like http://www.copycraft.com. There is a bit of competition on business cards so it's easy to find cheap way to print business cards. I also got my two sided 4/4 brochure (8.5 x 11) tri-folded and printed 1000 for less than $350 at that time. I am sure it's much cheaper now.
