Is there a possibility that isn't genuine ?

I know Elephants are quite smart, mourn their dead, have amazing memories, and likely have under-rated intelligence, however that seems pretty farfetched. Of course if the elephant is painting, he's likely painting another elephant, not his own image..LOL


Dunno, seems VERY difficult to believe !   If that is actually happening it is amazing

What do the following two creatures have in common.

It's possible that it is only a fat chick doing the painting.....A guy would have to examine her effluent to be sure.....if her droppings are full of Big Mac bun seeds and half chewed Twinkies, then she's just a fat chick who finally found justifacation to remain fat.

Hey did you hear that General Motors found a way to meet the latest EPA MPG standards?....Yep, all cars must soon get at least 31.6 MPG.....GM decided they would shrink the door size to a point only skinny chicks could squeeze in.....Their decision will have a huge impact on the rest of the economy tho.....Dress makers, bakers, grocers, and divorce courts are struggling to find a way to deal with the decreased demand expected for their products.

The funny thing is it isn't just one elephant doing the drawing. There are several that have this talent. They usually paint pictures of other elephants and flowers. I guess elephants really like flowers.

Turns out they aren't painting elephants and flowers based upon their own will to do-so.  They have been taught to paint what they paint, and the elephants and flowers take a lot of direction and While still amazing, only a few can do something that detailed given tough tough instruction- In most cases attempts on their own are totally abstract.  they don't choose colors either. they can not pick up the paint brush,  it's given to them

Yes it seems that a brain the size of a peanut can be trained to do these things.

Notice on the video how much control the elephant has with the brush.

Wonder how long it took the trainer to teach it to do that?

As far as I know, a chimp cannot even do this and they are suppose to be one of the smartest animals...They just do finger paintings of abstract things and are not able to create the same image over and over.
