USB into mixer-  sound running from mixer mains out..

As I stated in the title.  I have some decent onkyo speakers downstairs that'd make decent monitor speakers (I think) however what ohm rating-types of speakers am I limited to singing on a computer using the mixer bypassing soundc ard all together ?

Hint -- doesn't have anything to do with anything, or shouldn't.

If they are powered speakers, there is no "ohm rating", there is an input impedance and the amp is in the speaker.

If they are not powered speakers, the chain is

  Computer --> USB --> Alesis Mixer --> ????? --> Onkyo speakers

The ????? is what you are going to use to amplify the Aux 1 out or monitor out of the mixer. Or if you are not really speaking of a monitor but mains, you will go from the main out.

I suppose you could be talking in a recording sense, and not a karaoke sense. Then perhaps you call them "monitor" speakers. But in the normal karaoke sense, the monitor is what the singer hears and the mains is what everyone else hears.

Thanks,  I haven't a clue about any of this !  Much appreciated.

Is there a way I can use speakers and headphones disabling speakers with a nob without needing to unplug them ?  Seems I don't have the option of keeping speakers plugged in assuming I wish to disable them for headphone use only at night

The Multimix 8 USB has a separate main out and headphone/control room knob, so yes.
