Ok, so receiving SPAM with the "FROM" field showing some random email address is one thing, but this one is way more serious IMO.

I had an email in my bulk folder this morning with a subject line spouting great saving on  Gucci Prada Fendi etc...   The problem with this email is that the "FROM" field contained my own email address!

Now I do not send out SPAM and I never will... Geez, I get enough of that carp not to have to start sending it to MYSELF!

Anyone here had a similar thing?

My biggest concern is that if they can send it to me, then what is stopping them sending SPAM all over the net with my address on it?

Just thinking of the lawsuit I could come up with against Gucci, Prada, Fendi, etc fraudulently using my name to endorse their products...  Class Action anyone?

With all the emails that I get (at least 70% are SPAM) I have had that happen quite a few times.

I was concerned at first, especially when I get the error message that it couldn't be delivered! - but when looking at where the email was generated (the IP address) I see that it didn't come from my servers so I figured that someone out there is just screwing around.

I just delete them. But it still has me wondering if my domain name(s) will be banned from other servers for being a SPAMMER?

Anyone know that answer?

Thats becoming more and more common. You will have to delete that addy for awhile till it drops off the verified list.   The best method is using changing addys on the internet Such as Murrlyn1@hotmail.com. This is forwarded to a secure (not Murrlyn         )addy. When #1 is spammed and you start getting spam like that you delete it and Make a new addy.

Fear not. This is common, and is sometimes even done by your mailer agent when it finds a blank From: address.

Don't worry. They have your email address anyway, and since From: is so trivially forged, no one pays attention to it anyway when combatting spam.

The worst thing that can happen is that you get a bunch of bounced messages from lousy mail transfer agents that "bounce" undelivered (or undeliverable) messages. And that is happening less and less as the large email systems reduce what they call "backscatter".

Also, remember that Gucci et al are not the ones sending the email. It is slimy spammers no doubt sellng fraudulent copies of same.

Very possible.. I had a web site banned from Google, due to the Java Scrip someone injected in the code..

I ended up closing down the site.. I couldn't discover how to inform Google the problem was fixed..

If your domain has been infected with an email trojan, you will be banned by almost everyone..

Just sayin'

I use Bluehost for  server Their software depending upon how high you have the security set will detect 90% of the spam. When I get heavy spam or undeliverables from that addy I just delete it and make another. For example my KS Addy is something like forum@cabaret-karaoke.com.. I havnt had any spam on it yet but it wouldnt be hard to delete. Make another account go into user panel and put in the new one. The email addy that all are forwarded to is virtually spam free.

Example

Code:
Spam detection software, running on the system "box94.bluehost.com", has
identified this incoming email as possible spam.  The original message
has been attached to this so you can view it (if it isn't spam) or label
similar future email.  If you have any questions, see
the administrator of that system for details.

a replica watch and how is it different from the real watches? A replica watch
is a watch made similar to that of the real brand ones, except, at a much
