I've read a few things here and there about diets, and was just wondering what you guys have/haven't tried and your opinions on what is/isn't healthy and what does/doesn't work.

Personally, I don't "diet". I try to eat healthy- I hate canned/processed foods and love raw fruits and veggies so eating healthy is not a hard thing for me. (don't scoff anyone who recently read my posts about drive through windows always getting my order wrong... i don't habitate fast food places all that much any more.. but I do have my taco bell moments)

If I could drop the 5-6 pounds I picked up over the winter/bear-going-into-hibernation season, and tone up a bit, I'd be satisfied. But I have a couple sisters, and a mom, who have tried literally every diet on the planet at one time or another.
My oldest sis just recently (last 6 weeks), on the recommendation of her doctor, started the new habit of "eating according to your blood type". She eats normally, just more of some stuff and less of other stuff (and has cut out certain things like corn, chicken, and wheat glutten) and she's lost 25 pounds. (160 down to 135)

Anyone else try it?

Oh, and has anyone used Formostar? It was wierd at first, but I love it. Makes you feel nice and revved afterwards.

I have been 60kg for for the past 20 years or so; not a bad wt for my height.
Eating has been a problem to me; am very picky about my food. I don't enjoy those  'bad' food, not because they are bad for the health, but they just taste bad to me.

So I guess I am just lucky.

When I'm at the doctors office and the nurse askes me to step on the scale, I take off my shoes, my socks, my watch, my ring, you name it. I'll even remove my gum.

One of the best diet books I've read is 'South Beach Diet'. It makes sense and it's not some crazy fad diet thing. If all you want to do is drop 5 pounds you should be able to do that with minimal effort, like cutting out bread and pasta for awhile. Anything starchy will convert to sugar.

I love to bake in the winter...so I usually gain a few pounds. This summer I'm stopping at all the fresh fruit stands.

Unfortunately I will probably just make pies out of them.  :(

I think Sheree is right. The South Beach Diet is a good, effective diet that isn't that difficult to stick to.

Having broke my jaw and been on soup for 5 weeks, I lost 2 stone.

During that 5 weeks I was eating full-fat soups (or just NOT diet ones) and drinking milkshakes - really nice thick chocolate milkshakes.

Problem now is that I have lost my weight but got no sense of achievement because it wasn't by anything I did (well sorta was but hey).

Now my goal is another stone in the next year - should be easy - but I'm working hard already  to keep the weight off.

Gym at least 3 times a week, healthy foods and very few treats!
