:?: Help!!!! I've had several requests for a song that I can't find. Hopefully I'm just looking in the wrong places. Can anyone tell me if they have the Nascar version of the song "The Ride". It came out shortly after Earnhart got killed and the people in my area are really into Nascar so the song is frequently requested. If you have it, please let me know Disc manufacturer and who actually sings it. Thanks ever so much for any and all help.

I looked around and couldn't find it either. Travis Tritt sings it. It may not be popular enough for someone to make it.

I was intrigued by the name, "The Ride" because that is the name of a fairly well known country song by David Allan Coe (about Hank Williams, Sr)

It was remade a few years back by Tim McGraw.  Other than that, I haven't found anything about a new song with that exact title.  Do you have the title exactly right?

EDIT:  My post was created prior to Jam's.  I googled the title he suggested and that seems to be correct.  As an aside, it's looks like a variation on the David Allan Coe song.  I'd love to hear the melody!  Does anyone know if it's the same tune?

When I googled Nascar song The Ride. It came up with Travis Tritt as the singer. I think it would help to get the exact song title and artist.  :D

Coe's vrsion is popular here but the one I like is by Chris LeDoux It could be called the last ride.

Entirely different.

Hold Your Head Up High
Keep Your Eyes Fixed
Where The Trail Meets The Sky
And Live Like You
Aint Afraid To Die
And Dont Be Scared
Just Enjoy Your Ride

Babs, the song you seek may very well have been done by Tritt.  Check out the CB track that Jam suggested, which is named: Ridin' With The Legend

Tony Martin
The Last Ride
Tribute to Dale Earnhardt

Well I was goin to Daytona
I had my race gear in my pack
When a stranger pulled up beside me
In a stock car colored black
He was dressed like a NASCAR driver
A mustache with mirrored eyes
He said its a long walk to Florida
Would you like a ride son?

Well I crawled across the roll cage

> Then he fired that Chevy up
And the patch on his sleeve said the man had won
Seven Winston Cups
His eyes was intimidatin as hell
As we rode into the night
And I knew there was somethin strange
Bout this ride

Chorus
He said
Boy can you make fans stand and scream your name
And he hit em in the (@$%&#!) never let off the gas
Til he rolled into Big Berlain
He said boy do you know how it feels
When youre runnin three wide
Cause if youre Daytona bound
Let me warn you youre in for a ride
[these lyrics are found on http://www.songlyrics.com]

Then he cried when we got to Daytona
As we pulled out on the track
He said
This is where you get out boy
Cause number three aint comin back
And as I climbed out of the race car
I said thanks Ill catch you later
He said youll pay hell catchin me son
Cause Im the intimidator

Chorus

If youre Daytona bound
Let me warn you youre in for a ride
The Last Ride

RIDIN' WITH THE LEGEND  by Keith Bryant
(though not the same, these lyrics are quite similar to the previous post)

I was on my way to Daytona, I had my race gear in my pack,
When a stranger pulled up beside me in a stock car, painted black.
He was dressed like a NASCAR driver, moustache with mirrored eyes.
Said: "It's a long walk to Florida, would you like a ride, son?"

So I crawled across the roll-cage as he fired that Chevy up.
The badge on his sleeve said the man had won seven Winston cups.
His eyes were intimidatin', as he rode into the night.
An' I knew there was somethin' strange about this ride.

He said: "Boy, can you make fans stand an' scream your name?
"Can you hit 'em in the rear an' grab another gear, still roll into victory lane?"
He said: "Boy, do you know how it feels to run three wide?
"'Cause if you're Daytona-bound, let me warn you, you're in for a ride."

Then he cried when we got to Daytona an' as he pulled onto the track,
An' he said: "This is where you get out boy, 'cause number three ain't comin' back."
As I crawled out of the race car, I said: "Thanks, I'll catch you later."
He said: "It'd be tough catchin' me boy, 'cause I'm The Intimidator."

He said: "Boy, do you make fans stand an' scream your name?
"Can you hit 'em in the rear an' grab another gear, still roll into victory lane?"
He said: "Boy, do you know how it feels to run three wide?
"'Cause if you're Daytona-bound, let me warn you, you're in for a ride."

"If you're Daytona-bound, let me warn you, you're in for a ride."

"You been ridin' with the legend, an' it's a fast ride."
