How would you rate your singers in your main venue? If you're a singer how would you rate your local karaoke haunt?

I am obsolutely amazed at the talent I have in my little bar. We're starting to become known for having the best singers. I have new people coming in to see how they compare to the competition. Kind of wierd since I never have contests. It is intimidating I think for the average singer just wanting to have fun, so I do my best to encourage them.

I'm curious to see if anyone else has had this experience.  I feel very fortunate to be able to enjoy some really talented singers from 21 yrs old to 89 !

I'd say about 75% of our singers are pretty darn good & we will have good singers on most any given night.  There have been nights when the 25% have all came in at the same time it seems & dominated, but this is not the norm.

LMAO ooops I did the poll wrong. The first one was supposed to be "No talent - just having fun". Instead the topic says it. Sorry I can't fix it in edit.  :D

If by talent you mean entertaining then I'd place my room quite high. If you mean pure vocal talent, well...

I have very few who just stand there and look at the monitor. As a KJ I'd rather have it visually engaging than have every singer great vocally but stone statues onstage. They certainly entertain me and the night just flies by.

We've always been blessed with very good singers. At times I've heard it referred to as the best free concert in town. Nice to have a room full of very good singers who are very supportive of each other and of the new singers who venture in.

We are not top-notch. But I will tell you that there aren't that many that are -- out of 100+ clubs I have visited I would say that 10 had better than 50% talented singers. Some are downright terrible but lots of fun; some are bad and boring. One in particular is a pain because the bad singers sing the same 8 songs week after week after week after week....

My favorite all-time karaoke night was when I was in a rotation with about 7 other singers, all better than me. Hearing them sing made me try my best, and they were very encouraging.

Other nights I have enjoyed were the two nights I was at a show where the cast of a musical came in. What a blast!

At my club we have five people who can carry a tune at all -- one outstanding woman but no outstanding men at all. We have one family of four with a mother-father combination who can't sing, and their two sons are chips off the old block. Tonight it was me and our outstanding singer and those four for much of the night. (A lot of club members are on vacation.) Not pretty -- not much you can do with a rotation like that except try to space the decent singers.

WOW , you must have been to my regular Thrs/Fri nite gig.

I do get a few talented singers on the thrs/fri nite gig, but probably only 10%.  Now my once a month gig, at a different bar, I would say 90% of them are talented, or can at least carry a decent tune and sing on key most of the time.
