The gas thread got me wondering how far people drive? For me it's in the 4-5 miles range. There are several karaoke places in that range from which I could pick.

There are several Karaoke places within a mile from my house but I generally drive 10 miles (one way) to go to the one I like. I will be glad when my new house gets built this fall as I will be within 2 miles from my favorite watering hole, and smack dab in the middle of what I call some of the best karaoke KJ's in the whole state. Milwaukie, Gladstone, and Oregon City have some terrific KJ's and a high concentration of skilled singers as well. Oh...and let's not forget Canby!

Ive been know to make it a high point of weekend overnighters(like from Portland to Seattle--stop overnight in Tacoma--oh about 120 miles or so) of planning a specific Karaoke bar stop---like at Lonnies at The T-Bird.

Around here---might drive up to 45 mins to go check a place or hang a at favorite place.

Anymore tho--its going to be no more than 10 mins--max.

Plenty of places---but most are of low quality. Only a few I really care to spend time at.

My wife and I routinely drive 33 miles to our favorite Sunday evening (7pm-11pm) show. We like the food.

Keeping fuel prices in perspective, it now costs me about 47 cents a mile to operate my car instead of 37 cents a mile. So the difference is $6.60 for that show, which isn't going to break me. It might make me slightly less likely to buy the shrimp coctail as an appetizer when we eat there, which would make the total cost of the outing ($60.00 or more counting car costs) about the same. That isn't too bad for an afternoon's entertainment -- and a meal -- for two people.

I live far enough out in the country so I am driving all the time to karaoke. Conversely, I don't usually have to deal with traffic, parking hassles, worrying about theft, and sitting at stoplights. The food and drink prices are lower, too. So I don't mind the difference.
