My new Thursday gig is going really well , nice crowd last night and I got "kudo's" from the owner and some of the customer for doing a really good job. This bar has a fenced in patio area outside right off the main bar. Many of the customers HANG there specially if the weather is nice. They do have some 8" jukebox speakers placed around the patio for juke box music. Q1) Is there a way to patch into a jukebox speaker system from my mixer ? without harming the speakers? Q2) I wouldn't mind running a small speaker outside 10" 12" ? - What is the best way to do this --- I can daisy chain to my 15" speaker which is closest to the patio but still inside ?????-- But since I'm running stereo ...this might not be ideal. Can I run a speaker from my board that will capture a mono single for this one speaker ? ( monitor?) Will it need seperate POWER or be a POWERED SPEAKER ?? SUGGESTIONS ? QUESTIONS ? If I have to bring another amp and speaker it may work out as I think I can get some EXTRA $$$$$ for this PATIO service |

What mixer are you using? That is always going to be the question. I have a simple answer for my setup -- I have an unused mono out on my powered mixer (PMH3000). I run in Mono / Monitor mode and run the monitor feed to a monitor speaker. The mono out is unused. The unpowered mono signal out goes to my 2500w power amp to run the mains and subs. But your answer is going to rely on what you have available. If you have an unused aux feed for a monitor, you might use that. Or a "main 2", or whatever you have. |

For this gig I'm using a Behringer 1222FX 12 channerl mixer ( sorry about that) |

Doesn't look like it has a mono out. It has a headphone out, of course, but that is a stereo connector. You could figure something out to hook up a set of powered speakers out of that or the CD/Tape out -- probably a pair of studio monitors like the Behringer Truth would be enough to get some sort of audio out there. You don't want it too loud, anyway. |

This has been in the back of my mind for awhile now. My preference would be using the jukebox outdoor speakers. For Village Inn and others we would mount weatherproof horns and I know what happens when exposed to outside weather does. I'm not familiar with the newer jukeboxes but I just left a recording for an old competitor and friend who still is a member of the AMOA and a current operator. I will get all the info about running speakers in the outside smoking area and tapping into them and pass it on. Some of the newer boxes have aux outs for different zones I dont know if they are amped external or internal. In research I have found an affordable video/audio DA link For video and audio both this isnt a bad price. A DA is nothing more than an isolation amp and puts out an exact signal as the input to more loads. I would probably mount in another box and replace the audio RCA with 1/4 ". |

OK the internet jukeboxes use internal amps with an extra aux out for different zones' He said it would be a pain (of course he wouldnt want others unhooking his speakers). You dont want to invest a lot in external speakers so he goes down to the shack and gets these A 100 watt amp would work. It wouldnt have the same quality but they might surprise you. I wouldnt want to put a good speaker outdoors on a regular basis. Another thing to consider is some towns due to noise ordinances wont allow outside speakers. |

Thanks - I checked with the owner and there should be no problem as they already have outside speakers. And your are correct it would not need to be LOUD Besides just providing music to the customers outside - I found myself waiting and waiting when I announced NEXT singer and they were outside UNABLE to hear me. |

I use a few different speakers for outside sound. One of my Bose L1 systems If I'm not using it as mains. A Powered JBL EON G2 Or A QSC HRP 121i Then I use a Shure wireless instrument system to transmit signal. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Shure-ULXS1 ... 1126556.gc You connect one of your aux sends to the body pack and place the reciever on the input of your powered speaker. It works fantastic. I don't reccomend using a cheap wireless unit as they will not go though walls. I have a Sennheiser G2 system that's a but cheaper only $500 that does the job very nicely. |
