What songs have you found that always raise a laugh (or smile)?
There are some people who have a fortunate gift and could make you laugh by reading a telephone directory, but, for us lesser mortals, which songs (or poems) are the most amusing?

[font=verdana] Very glad to see this thread.  A song that always made me laugh was about a $60 duck. (Not sure if the amount was $60.) I can’t seem to find any mention of this song anywhere on the web.  The little I remember of the storyline is, the guys dog hurts his neighbor’s duck, the duck is taken to the vet, and of course the dog owner has to pay all the bills.  There is one lyric in the song that goes something about “I’ll pay for the fence”.  Sorry I can’t be more explicit, but if anyone can figure out what song I am referring to, would appreciate the artist and title.

I had forgotten all about the boomerang song, always enjoyed that one too!

I love to do funny songs. Here are some of my favorites.  "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" by David Allen Cole,  "I'm Gonna Hire A Wino" by David Fizzell,  "Girl In The Billboard" by Del Reeves, "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow" By The Soggy bottom Boys, "White Lightning" by George Jones,  "Purple People Eater" Sheb Wooly,  "Trashy Women" by Confederate Railroad,  "Along Came Jones"  Ray Stephens.

Wish I had the Boomerang song.

Pub With no Beer always made me smile, the line "No place for a dog is a pub with no beer" is spot-on.
Tom Lehrer, of course "Here's a cure for all your troubles, and an end to all distress, it's the Old Dope Peddler, with his powdered happiness" plus "The Irish Maid" and "Poisoning Pigeons in The Park"
And Jake Thackeray.

Had someone sing "Running Bare" the other night - not the best singer but everybody loved it when they started reading the words.

Of course POS Car by Adam Sandler, though coarse, always bring a laugh with the right crowd.

I've always thought Confederate Railroad's She Never Cried was pretty funny as well as She Took It Like a Man, but rare is the karaoke book that has either song.  A Boy Named Sue is good.

I know a singer that only specializes in tv theme and silly songs.  He is the one that told me the theme to Gilligan's Island could be sung to the tune of House of the Rising Sun.  I'll let someone else prove this theory. LOL

Oh Wow! I remember being at a show where the lady owner of the bar did a song about a certain appliance used mostly by...er..."lonely wimmin". Love the part where she sings "Buzzz buzzz...." I think it was called the Vibrator Song. Also anything by Red Peters, of course those are quite cheeky. I got laffs when I did Time Warp from the Rocky Horror Picture Show doing all the different voices, male and female. Sweet Transvestite is a good one for that, too.
