Okay, I'm impressed - after reading the thread and listening to the song "Songbird" by this (sadly now deceased) artist, I ordered it through the link posted on the thread. It just arrived in my mailbox - from Kentucky to Seattle, paying only $4.16 more for priority shipping. Excited to learn these songs. What a tremendous vocalist.

Thanks to whomever posted the link.  Karyoker, was it you?

What??? I haven't been here in a while.  She passed??  How?  It must have been a terrible accident.  She was pretty young.  Where is the link?

She died in November 2, 1996 at the age of 33 from cancer. She had malignant melanoma that metastasised. Her music became far more popular after her death. I just discovered her a few days ago on Youtube.

Stogie: This Zoom disc is wonderful. The entire disc is acoustic guitar and the arrangements are very simple and beautiful. Easily gender nonspecific as well.

I must be thinking of someone else.  I think I need to do a little research.

One of the highlights of my life was seeing Eva live, twice.
Once at Blues Alley.

Once at the Bayou. Her last performance.

I called my fiance' ( now my wife) after the Bayou show, from a pay phone and cried for 10 minutes decribing the show. People were walking by me in Georgetown (part of DC) thinking I was NUTS. I still get choked up thinking about it. I was balling !!!

If you have seen the youtube  video of her last show, it is Exactly as described by people who were there. Absolutely beautiful, stunning, chilling,  incredibly sad, gut wrenching.

I went knowing it was a "tribute", I knew she was sick, but did not know she was terminally ill.

One of my favorite albums of all time, is the disc she made with Chuck Brown. If anyone reading this has an open mind about music, and isn't stuck on one style, the music of Eva Cassidy will move your soul!!!

When I die, I want her version of "Autumn Leaves" played at my grave.

The Zoom disc I ordered of her songs has that very song on it. I have sung that song in different versions but look forward to learning it in her style. The music is SOOOO beautiful.

I don't usually listen to S/S because I'm SUPPOSED to be working but will make the exception for this! I'm sure you did a fabulous job.

Okay, like now I need to explain to my little grandkiddies why grandma is crying at 10:30 in the morning. How beautifully sublime that was. Thank you.
