I personally dislike it.  I just prefer CDG with simple lyrics!

Yeah people (especially the ones bred on cdg) make the comment they dislike the videos because they detract from the singer or that they have absolutely nothing to do with the song.  I tried to phase my laserdiscs out years ago but got so much flack from the regular laser users that I continue to use them to this day.  I now list the cdg version if I have but know who want the video version & will give it to them.

Never used VIDEO karaoke but when I was using discs I did play a few music videos (dvd's) as fillers and they seemed to get a great reception

But won't this take focus off the singer?  People wanting to watch the videos?  You can't stand watching someone walking off stage to take a sip, why would you want people to be tempted to totally take focus off the singer entirely?

I can play any video behind the words with my system. I have a few different ones loaded, but don't use them. People complain they have trouble reading the words, so I stopped using it.

thats nice dear...yes I can see where your audience would need as many props as possible to make up for your lack of social skills and hosting abilities

But you have stated you want your audience focused on the singer I thought you said, why on Earth would you want your audience to want something else to focus on other than the singers?
Must be grand to have so many hypocrytical statements & actually believe them all.

I personally find that people over here find them laughable.  The video production is just ridiculous, and often either has no bearing on the song, or sometimes just interprets it literally.

Then again, we're Brits and don't like that sort of thing.

Off topic: I have a friend who was in one.  We made a point of finding it.  Then ridiculing him a LOT!

There is a version of Delilah from Tom Jones...I know it was on a Pioneer & have seen the same video on a U-Best as well.  It features Kato Kailin (OJ Simpson murder trial fame) as what?  A guy with a knife that stabs his girlfriend to death.  It was filmed before the entire thing, but it drew alot of attention during that time.
On Pioneer another pretty well known video was Blue Bayou, where at the very end a guy is kissing his girl at the end of a dock & when they turn around to walk back the guy was OBVIOUSLY "excited".  Yeah when people start to really scrutinize the videos, ALL attention on the actual singer are no where to be found, everyone starts watching the video only.

Reference my new thread of today regarding "studio karaoke", as well as previous posts from Jian
VIDEO KARAOKE is the accepted format in many parts of the world.

I have a few in my library, but haven't made up my mind about them. Some are pretty hokey!
