Post subject:  Lonman is a Damn good singer!
I've been here at least six months and I've spent all my time in the Karaoke Forum and the Technical Forum. I never even looked at anything else here for some reason. So today I decided to find out what this term "sub" that I have been reading meant. I found out it means submission as in a song that you've sung that you submitted to the Singer's Forum. So I went down the list page after page looking for a name that was familiar and the first one I stumbled onto was Lonman. Well, my impression is that he's a humble guy, doesn't brag and he's never really said much about him singing himself. So I think "hmmm, the guy probably doesn't really sing much and probably not that good". He's a KJ and a pro sound guy, probably not much of a singer.

So I click on his name and he has like 5 songs submitted. So I clicked on Love Me Two Times. Whoooaaaooh, I was suprpised as heck. Honestly if I was just listening to the song and didn't know what it was or who I would think it was a professional singer. Really well done. Then I clicked on China Grove, a more challenging song, he did a great job on that one too. The man has some serious skills and I'm not just saying that. I've heard LOTS of people sing, in person and on the internet and most have been not very good.

Lonnie is an EXCELLENT singer---hes really good on classic rock and hard rock songs

I wasnt very impressed with what I heard his tone color and focus wasnt very strong.....his breath support wasnt bad but weak at times. need to learn how to pin point you focus....it should help you alot

Maybe you sub a song and see if you can impress a few here. (remember, he record live, and a lot of what you call weak can be corrected had he has someone other than himself behind the board.
In the genre that he sings, Lonnie sound pro.

geminimale, as soon as you came here a couple of days ago you identified yourself as a crackpot. It's really too bad the Soundchoice board closed down because maybe you would still be there instead of here. I really would like to hear you sing so I could compare you to Lonman. Like I said before, the man has skills, I wasn't blowing smoke. I also found a very good singer "Roadcrew" in the SS. The guy is way good and sounds like a pro recording artist.

I listened to Lonman's Love Me Two Times and China Grove again and I'm still impressed. Good enough to sing with a band any day. I wasn't expecting him to be so good, I was really shocked. In my area I have heard people singing in front of audiences for money that were not nearly as good. Gotta give the man his props.

I've had a respiratory illness for over two weeks and I went out in the garage where I have my equipment set up and sang for the first time since before I was sick. Man, it's going to take some work and practice to get back into the swing of things.

Anyway, this place is great and I'm soooo happy I found it. There is so much good stuff and so many good people here, I really appreciate what a wonderful music/singing resource it is and a nice social gathering place where people with a similar interest can discuss singing and music. Thanks so much to the people who created this place and who manage and run it!!!

Lonnie is an AMAZING singer and a very talented guy!  He's got 5 songs up because they won't let you put up more than five unless you pay a monthly fee.  The reason I bring this up is because the free membership only allows for 3MB of space per song... which usually makes for a pretty crappy-sounding recording.

But Lonnie REALLY knows his stuff... he can squeeze every last bit of sound out of a small file.  He's given me tips on many occasions... the dude's a genius!  Thanks for the help, my man!

Let's hear what you have?  Willing to bet that you will never because you couldn't take the criticism that you freely give out or that you wish you were as good, but then again, we'll probably never know.

Wow Gem... making new friends all the way around, huh?

He was booted from the SC forum a couple of times... never once made it over to JOLT.

Gem, I've seen Lonnie in person, heard him sing. The man was in a rock and roll band as well as being a consumate host, and dayum good karaoke singer.

Well I may as well jump on the band wagon! ( just kidding Lonnie! ) While it is true he is a very good singer ( Man in the Box! Are you kidding me, tough song and he does it well ) what I appreciate about him is his willingness to hand out advice about all the knowledge he has aquired over the years and hand it out without being condensending.

He reminds me a bit of my late older brother who was a phenominal professional guitarist but never had to put down younger or less expierenced musicians to make himself feel good about his talents. Thanks for the help you given me in the past Lonnie, it is appreciated. Rudy.

Ok guys while I appreciate the comments & defenders, this forum isn't about me.  
I sing for fun & nothing more.  If you like it great, if not, great.  It isn't about trying to impress anyone & I have fun doing so & that is what karaoke is supposed to be all about!  As Forest says, "That's all I have to say about that!"
