Post subject:  Singless in Seattle

I just returned from a cruise, to find out that a close friend and business partner in Seattle has a severe medical problem. I ended up changing plans to stay here and see him when I can.

But it looks like I am staying in Redmond, WA tonight with nothing to do. I think NW Karaoke Guide is the place to look, and I see a couple of possiibilities for singing tonight. But I know we have a sizable Seattle contingent....

Does anyone have a Saturday night show within 20 minutes or so of Redmond? I am staying near 148th and Bel-Red Road.

Tomorrow night I am probably going down to Lonman's place, as I am staying near SeaTac that night.

PM me or post, but I would like to visit your show!

Great, glad you are going to be there!

I am not sure where Karen, Randy, and company hang out. I was thinking Bellingham, which is farther than I want to go since I could be called away at any time. Normally I am willing to travel, but with my friend's situation I want to remain super-flexible.

Pick up a copy of the guide---that has MANY GOOD references to try out in all areas of Seattle, Tac, Everett etc etc.

Myself Id just go see Lonnie at The T-Bird in Tacoma.

OK, now I'm disappointed. I'm not doing any Sat. night shows now, but would certainly have steered you in the right direction. Randy would have been a good person to ask, too. (Hubby's band played last night down in Auburn, left the house at 3 p.m. and got home at 3 a.m. so I didn't see the post...)

It was such a short notice --I figured you would see "Seattle" in the subject and post if you saw it.

I had a constraint of staying within 20 minutes of Redmond, so Auburn was out of the picture anyway. I ended up at the Palmer East, then later at the Maple Leaf. Got to sing a lot -- very good sound (on some vintage equipment) at the Palmer. Good sound also at the other, though I sat a bit out of the audience area.

I am done visiting my partner, who goes in for removal of a brain tumor Tuesday. I am posting from my SeaTac airport hotel, and will go down to Lonnie's show early (to get somethign to eat). I fly out in the morning, so I probably won't close the place, but you never know....

Well Mickey just left my show, a pleasure as usual! I don't know how they turned out but I recorded his songs tonight even though I wasn't prepared to record. I'll send them to him first & let him determine whether or not to sub them.
Thanks for the visit & look forward to the next one!!!!

Look for "Randy J" in there. He did 4 of his subs from the live recording. But that night I was set up to rcord too.

Caught ya! You must have internet at the gig, cool!

A great time again at your show. The sound was excellent, and thanks for remembering my preference for a slightly wet monitor. The new Mackie VLZ mixer sounds awesome.

Rotation was light early, so I got to sing quite a lot even though I only stayed 2-1/2 hours. Did:

Too Gone Too Long -- RandyTravis
Come Monday -- Jimmy Buffet
Ramblin' Man -- Allman Bros.
Bad Bad Leroy Brown -- Jim Croce
Seashores of Old Mexico -- George Strait

Leroy Brown was the laser disc version, which I was not prepared for. So I cracked up and lost it in the last chorus... 8-)

Got to hear Lonman sing twice with the very short early rotation -- what a treat. He did "Hurts So Good" and "Who'll Stop The Rain".

Hope the recordings came out OK -- I was in pretty normal form so that's what I sound like, for better or worse....you have a great crowd, so one is apt to sound their best.
