The New Thursday show is going very good, eventhough they have been running a contest every week. Anyways - place is PACKED , maybe due to the weather finally breaking or it could be the new KJ (

Anyways..it's still amazes me that people don't understand that I have to GO HOME at sometime.... tried to keep a steady rotation going at the same time allow 1st time singers to sing etc etc etc. Just never have enough time at this place for all the singers..THATS GOOD !!!!!

Congrats and thanks for the pics Jam! I love looking at other's setups.

It's a double-edged sword for sure, that thing about keeping people singing and wanting to go home at the same time. Fine line, too, before staying longer is an expectation and then the situation develops where you resent not being paid for the extra time. Of course we know that's a whole other thread...but I've been in that situation before.

Great job to start a new show and have it be so successful! Good on ya, mate.

Thank you - It is going well - There are a few quirks to work through
#1 - Everyone is friends with the owners daughter who is manager that night
#2 - SOmetimes she will "ask" me to get so/so in to sing --- NOT realizing that everytime she "asks" me to bump someone UP ....someone gets bumped OUT - because there are just sooooo many songs to sing.

Last night a girl came in late and asked me if should could sing Ike/Tina Proud Mary
I did squeeze her in as she was a NEW singer and I'm trying to get the new singers who are coming from the bar across the street to LOVE my show..anyway

THIS GIRL WAS FANTASTIC ----I"ve been KJ for a few years and she put on the BEST show I've ever seen at a Karaoke Bar ( see the pics ) anyway The whole bar starts chanting " ONE MORE SONG - ONE MORE SONG - ONE MORE SONG" when she gets done -- SO I cue up another soulfull song ( Gladys and the PIPS) and she KILLS AGAIN . BUT then people don't understand --her other song takes away from someone waiting to sing .

Its a simple set up - two tables to the left - on top are my SKB case with a Behringer Mixer in top - Furman POwer conditioner - RSQ singel Track Player ( not in use and soon to be removed for my DBX compressor I have) and the crown power amp -
To the Right of the SKB sits my Laptop on a STAND and on the other side of the skb is my wirless mic receiver.

2 15" Behringer speakers one on the right of the room another at the end of my two tables - hooked up in stereo ( just easier )

13" monitor on a basic stand and another BIGGER SCREEN behind - Video is out of Laptop into a converter which allows me to split one video source into 4 if needed.
MOST of the wires ar hidden in the case and all others are TAPED down the best I can ..not too bad looking. SATURDAYS SHOW IS SO MUCH DIFFERANT AND I'LL TAKE SOME PICS AND POST FOR YOU

New show still going well but I finally talked the Mgr into SCRUBBING the contest thing after last nights finale ....As usual with contests a regulars feelings got hurt when he was knocked out of the final round. Being a FRIEND of the manager she was feeling a little guilty that someone HAS to lose in all contests....

SO I talked her into doing the nightly drawing thing....Every time you sing your slip or ticket wil go into a bowl and at the end of the night a NAME will be drawn for a $100 cash prize.... NEED SOME ADVISE ON THE PROS AND CONS OF THIS TYPE OF PROMOTION AND GIVEAAWAY .... SUGGESTIONS ????
HOW TO HANDLE DUETS OR GROUPS SONGS? IIs there any fun twists to this type of drawing ? HELP

We put slips in and draw for a$50, $25, and $15 bar tab. It tends to keep them there later.

We did a promo called "singer appreciation hour" = at the beginning of the night the bartender would write down three times - e.g., 9:45, 11:00, 12:20...at those times he would pull a $20 out of his till and walk up and hand it to whomever was singing at that time. Inevitably they would turn around and spend the $20 at the bar so it was a very "feel good" thing for the singers and a smart move by the bar.
