On many occasions I've mentioned the limited space for my Saturday gig
See pic attached- I set up on the shelf - You will see 2 powered mixers one in front is mine - other belongs to the Friday Night DJ. Laptop and wireless system also on shelf as is the 13" singer monitor. ( for some reason I'm not allowed to plug into the many other TV's on the walls - I used to be able but now I cant

2 15" speakers are STACKED to the right on the 2 steps - hard to see in 1st pic
and the POOL table is righte there --Space you are looking at is for ME / SINGERS and anyone playing pool... See I told you small ........

Dang, you gotta love that! Too bad they couldn't sneak a dart board in over there next to you too!!!

Yeah it looks like the family room to a house. Tight quarters doesn't give it justice!

due to poor management ( throwing out one of a group of regulars) my Saturday gig is now 80% non karaoke. Pay is the same so I'm still there as of now. Management not concerned with amount of singers as overall business remains STEADY. Looking at the pic they have a BIG backroom that never ever gets used and there is so much room to improve the Karaoke if mgt just wanted too.
Not MY place so I go with the flow. One of the mgrs friends asked me to talk to the manager about an "open mic type of night" .... I said WHY? they're not going to pay me anymore

Jamkaraoke, I know from experience from trying a show using the bigger back room that that will kill a show. People around here don't like to wander too far from the bar.

Here here! Tried the dining area with a stage at one of my karaoke gigs as opposed to the bar - Big bust! You're absolutely right. Of course, here in Virginia, we're still smoking in the bars and the dining room was non-smoking so that may have contributed to the lack of any audience and significant decrease in the singers. Did it one week and then begged to go back to the bar. It's cramped, but worth it.
