This Chris LeDoux classic keeps popping up as a request. Rodeo is coming up next month and it's bound to be requested.... usually by a table of big spending hard drinking bull riding cowboys who stray into my bar because of it's high female quotient.
Ever since I've been doing karaoke I've been looking for this track. Any help would be appreciated... even discontinued disc numbers.
Thanks-
Bill

FOr that same group, be prepared to play anything and everything by David Allan Coe, Hank Sr. & Jr., even a lot of Merle "You're lookin' a little" Haggard. Tons of Garth (especially Papa Loved Mama for some reason). Cotton Eye Joe is another one they'll ask for (at least have the music track if not karaoke)... and Mony Mony (they have a special way they sing it in cowboy country...) I have some LeDoux but it has never been easy to get. Will check and see what I have. Rodeo is always a fun time.

Yeah I hear ya Karen. I just picked up the Chartbuster David Alan Coe CDG, and I'll just download some more Haggard because he's easy to find that way. I've needed more of him all along anyway.
I played keyboards in a country band in the 1990s so I know my way around with the stuff some. I was the non-country guy in the band though. We had a gig at the Pendleton Roundup every September in a downtown bar there and it was unbelievable. Some of the best times I've ever had in a band ever.

Bill,
The only place I could find it is in the Chartbuster 450 essential set V6
If you go to chartbusters site and type in "Hooked on an 8 second ride" it will take you to this set. $229 is alot for just one song...

Oh man! But I knew that it had to be out somewhere because cowboys say they sing it in other karaoke bars.
For those who may not know the song, it has a bit of a "Rocky" feel to it, like "Eye Of The Tiger", and it's played a lot at rodeos during bull riding.

Bill
I'm embarassed to say that I don't think I know that song and I definitely don't have it.
Hope this helps, check out the words to Amarillo By Morning by Geo Strait. I definitely think you should have that track, as well. As one of my favorite songs, I have found that most karaoke shows, unfortunately, don't have it!

You don't need to be embarrassed. It's not that big a deal to most rooms obviously or else there would be a karaoke version of it.
It is a big deal to rodeo cowboys and fans though. I checked the Chartbuster pack just to see what was in it, and this LeDoux track isn't there. It must be a search fault. I don't know where country rooms are getting it unless it's on a discontinued disc or someone's floating a custom job of it around. This is not "The Ride" BTW, another LeDeux song, which can be purchased.
Here's a Youtube of "Hooked On An 8 Second Ride" for the curious:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocpVGQmavIw
I have "Amarillo", which is sung often even in my mostly non-country room. And I had to check for "Cotton Eye Joe" because no one to my memory has ever done it but I've got it too... in a Country pack.
Edit: For those who don't go to rodeos, a bull rider must stay on for 8 seconds in order to qualify for a score. When the 8 seconds are up, a loud buzzer goes off so the rider knows he can get off... hopefully by jumping onto a cowboy on a nearby horse. But more often than not they let go and fly off to the ground. If they make it to 8 seconds.

I've got the Amarillo tune, which gets done every once in a while, but I can't find the Chris LeDoux song either.

I think it was the laser disc (Amarillo) that the words were I was lookin' for aid when they swung that gate. It should be 8.
I have ridden plenty of broncs but there are 2 things they never hardly ever got me on That was rodeo bulls and harleys. I like those rides if you fall off they stop and look at you. What the hell's wrong with you?
