Hi, I'm a new KJ and have to get my song books together for our debut gig Thursday. I tried to use musicbookdeluxe but I was having problems with it. Was wondering if anybody had a recommendation of a very efficient, simple program that will just scan my library, sort out duplicates and arrange create files arranged by artist or song title.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just use Excel, my son set it up and he has a formula he put in that sorts out duplicates, and counts them. Add an autofilter, and you can just show the unique songs. Then of course you just use the ‘Data Sort’ to make one version by artist, and one by song title. If you would PM me with your email I will send you the first page of our book, with the formulas in it. Hope this helps.

I cant get the demo to download properly. I admittedly didnt have much time when I was messing with it so maybe I'll try it again. I'd love to be able to do it without spending 100 on the program.

Don't have access or excel right now. I thought musicbook would be easy but I think it's way more complicated than what we need. I'm going to try this Song List Generator and see if that works.
Thanks for all the suggestions!

OpenOffice.org
It has an excel like spreadsheet called calc within it. Works excellent and it's open source, aka free.

Sorry you're having so much trouble. I use Music Book Deluxe and struggled a bit at first before I learned the program. I had an unusual stroke of luck though. I converted all my CDGs to a Cavs machine then was able to upload the entire library to the program from the machine. I didn't have to enter each song individually or try to use their song index. I'm sure someone on the forum could probably talk you through the program if you still want to give it a try though. I'm not sure what members use it though. Good Luck !

And thats exactly what I did! I just got it and it is so simple and great - my books are done! there are some files we couldnt import because of the format but we at least have books now, and we're ready to go. We can fix the other file names and sort everything out later.
Thanks for everyone's help on this forum, you guys are great!
