OPEC sells oil for $140 a barrel.
OPEC nations buy US grain at $7.00 a bushel.
Solution: Sell grain for $140 a bushel.
Can't buy it? Tough! Eat your oil!
Ought to go well with a nice thick grilled filet of camel (@$%!)!!!

You gotta love it when world hunger is a solution and not a problem.
Anyway, if they can decide to produce more oil or not and then drive prices up, we should be able to do the same. Karma is a Beyotch.

as long as our dollar weakens against the Euro, there's not too much we can do about the rising costs of anything!
Oh yeah one more thing... we raise the cost of our wheat, they'll buy from someone else!

From who? No one else grows it in the quantities that we do. The real problem is we give it away.

they can buy sod all wheat from us any longer, the grain bowl of the pacific has been converted to dairy...and the pouring on of water along with phosphates is killing the water aquifers...so that is NZ's clean green image fekked

If you want lower oil prices, make speculation illegal. It's not the Saudi's fault if a few Nigerians fire a few shots at a rig. This happens and the price of oil shoots up $5-10, yet has negligible effect on total production. The speculators get rich on using unneeded fear.

Great idea. If my car 'eats' as much as I do, from a montly budget perspective... then something isn't quite right.
Mb I should get a car with a smaller appetite? Mb I should eat more?

Yep, Timberlea is 100% correct as is Matt. The combined problem of the devalued dollar and the oil speculators are the real things that are doing us in gas and food price-wise. Two things I heard the other day that astounded me was that the US owes China roughly 700 billion dollars (that's mainly for funding the war). China's not going to call in its loan right now because we're their biggest client for their exports plus our companies are so intertwined with theirs. The other thing I happened to hear is that gasoline in Saudi Arabia costs the equivalent of around 80 cents per gallon right now. But that one isn't that surprising really.
