Post subject:  Home on the Prairie with Babs
I say home, because I immediately felt at home when I visited Babs at her Friday gig.

I am in Chicago area for a couple days, business and family both. My daughter lives in Arlington Heights, and a dear family friend is throwing a party.

The venue is small, but Babs setup is sweet. JBL speakers, Mackie mixer/amp, Audix mics, CAVS system with excellent selection. There is a great stage and the crowd was very good. The audience screen is in the perfect position over the top of the singer's head, so people look at the singer. Obviously everyone was very much at home, and there were lots of regulars. Babs has a great system for remembering the songs of her regulars.

There were a couple of great singers there (not counting Babs, who is tremendous). In particular one guy named "Mr. Croc" impressed with "I Wanna Sex You Up". Also a singer I didn't hear the name of belted a tremendous "Weekend in New England".

The mix was great -- not over-loud, and with just the right amount of effects. So many hosts layer on huge amounts of large hall reverb so everyone sounds the same -- she had the right amount so the character of everyone's voice came out.

All in all, one of the best gigs I have been to in a long time. Thanks, Babs!

Oh my gosh ! Thank you ! :hug:

I just wish I had more time to visit with you. I was over the top excited you came to see me. Friday nights can be so demanding for me. I'm lucky to get a few minutes free. Hopefully next time you come in I won't be so busy.

It was a delight to have you come to my show. What a wonderful voice you have and I so enjoyed your choice in songs. I hope you visit as often as you can !

Babs, I've heard nothing but awesome comments about your show.... if ever I take that big "karaoke trip" I've been planning for years.... :roll: .... there's no way I'd want to miss stopping at your place.

When you have a couple different members praising how you run your karaoke nights, well... that kinda speaks for itself.

Great that you got to meet another KS member:)
