I bought my wife and kids a VocoPro Twister 2 for Christmas. I know, I took grief from most of you (well deserved!). I had to return it because the player wouldn't play CDG's. Some Christmas! They sent me another unit and it turned out to be the best present I EVER bought for my family. Karaoke on most nights in our house!!!

OK, I'm thinking of an upgrade. Maybe even get in the business someday. JBL Eon 10 speakers a good choice for a large family room or is that total overkill? Maybe a Mackie mixer? Or should I leave well enough alone and stick with the VocoPro???

Thanks.

The best home system I ever put together was with 2 Eon 10 G2's. To make a long story short this guy was trying every speaker in the book. I had loaned my 10 to a buddy for a stage monitor and just happened to have it in my van. I brought it in and we tried it It blew everything else away. One speaker... He wound up buying 2 and since then has done small gigs. For size and weight the eon10 g2 is one of the best. They cost almost as much as their bigger cousin but are worth it. With 10's I can blow a lot of so called pro systems out of the running (in small venues). I have run about every home speaker in the book since stereo first came out, my favorite was Jensens. I dont know how many times I have set up in a new bar and run the 10 only and asked them how is that? When they say that is good then I say OK let's turn up the mains and blow their mind. I have used and listened to many speakers The eon10 G2 still blows my mind..

Far be it from me to suggest anyone to stay with VocoPro, but I do have to ask -- how does it sound compared to your local karaoke host? If you are not totally disappointed with the sound, I would stay with it a while until you figure out precisely where you want to go.

If you really want to gig out on a regular basis, I recommend you look at portability and ease of loading as a high priority. I now can fit into one rack, with laptop, mixer, light speakers, and a couple of gig bags with stands and mics. I don't do a lot of gigs, but I want to keep setup down to a minimum. That isn't the fun part. 8-)
