My husband's band is performing at Sturgis this year and I notice on the schedule they have karaoke at the Buffalo Chip (where they're performing). Has anybody done karaoke at Sturgis? I plan on taking CDGs as no doubt they won't have things like Mercy by Duffy, but wondering if any one had actually done it. I'll be there from the 29th through the 9th so we may get a chance to go in to Deadwood or some other place nearby to sing but if anybody knows of anything, do let me know.

I don't know anything about it, but I predict "Born to be Wild" will be performed a lot more often than "Sweet Caroline".

A buddy KJ here in Greeley goes up annually. He says they use 15" for monitors. Karaoke is very popular with bikers and I have done a couple of outside all nighters for biker clubs. Wanted Dead or Alive is their theme song. Make sure your hubby adds it to his list. Be prepared for a fun ride, I dont think you want to go to Deadwood You will find plenty of karaoke in Sturgis.

You can stop in Greeley co too!!!!

We've actually been there before, rode our scoots from Seattle in 2000 (for the anniversary year) and had a ball. This will be a lot different, being scheduled performers and all. Hubby's band is all original hard rock (visit them at doglegpreacher.com) and definitely play the kind of music the biker crowd loves. They are our biggest fans in Wa State definitely.

I suggested to Joe (hubby) that he may want to actually appear on the karaoke stage and sing something when they're not on stage doing their thing. I know I will be for sure. Deadwood is too much of a zoo during bikeweek as I recall, and my boobies just ain't as pretty as them 21-year-old models ... LOL ... seems like that is the entrance requirement for most activities.

Thanks for the well wishes. There will be a documentary created of the entire trip (sound guy is also a film producer) and I will be taking TONS of pics as well. And I'm envious of you, Jam - I sold my bike a year and a half ago and that was a HUGE mistake for me. Would you believe I'm taking MOTORHOME to Sturgis...but someone has to haul band and equipment...

Going with the band sounds like it will be a great time - it's not a motor home

Karaoke does seem unusually popular with bikers. Some of the places I've been to around here always seem to have a bunch of motorcycles parked out front on karaoke night. Wonder why that is?

They are riders They enjoy life to the fullest. They keep the protestors way from mothers burying their fallen soldiers. I would rather do a gig for bikers more than anybody else. I guarantee you nobody is going to screw with your gear.

Brings to mind when my mom was going to bar for her 3 beers on sat night There were always a few sons of silence. You did not cuss around her and they protected her and all the other ladies.

One of them was pushing a baby buggy with his new daughter I rushed out and said "Mike Whadda do trade your Harley for a baby buggy?" " I guess"

Have fun Karen! And yeah I'd take "Mercy" with you although it's been out for awhile. Report back on husband's gig too!
