Am I allowed to copy my CD-Gs? I want to copy them on to another disk and use them. I want to save my investment of my CD-Gs NOT SELL THEM! What do you use to do this? What type of disks do you use? Thank you! airman15905

do some searching on this site. ANd this forum specifically. There's many programs out there that copy cdgs! You have to have the right hardware to do it, though! Not just ANY burner will work, even with powerkaraoke's good ripper!

First, if you have any quantity of CDGs, you don't want to copy them with the PCs drive anyway. That's a LOT of wear and tear on a drive that isn't meant for it. Go buy a standalone duplicator. It will copy more quickly, more accurately, and more safely.

You might buy an Alesis duplicator relatively cheaply, but that's not my recccomendation. I have a MicroBoards QuicDisc. Besides duplication, it has included firmware for error correction and other problems like Mediacloq that you may run into. It costs in the neighborhood of $300, but well worth it. If you have more than 16 discs it will pay for itself. If you have several hundred, it's a godsend.

To save money, knightshows suggestion is excellent! ($39.00)
Pros: Power CDG Burner has Deinterleaving and works with Most drives.
Cons: Its uses Only Freedb to rename tracks!

If you have a Very Large CDG collection and a Songbook Creator i.e. KJ Pro, Music Book Deluxe, FastTracks ect. Consider CDGFix... ($70.00)
Pros: Backup and Rename Discs Quickly and more accurate than Freedb.
The Features are Extensive... Change Formats, Colors, Trim Long-Winded Tracks..
and the list of features go on and on.

If your going to spend more that $39.00, you might as well get all of the Goodies for only $70.00, and Add a Personal Touch to Every Track to say the least!

I can't see spending $200.00 to $300.00 to backup CDG.

MTU Microstudio is also very good & will use most any cd/dvd drive out as well. About $10 more than the Powerkaraoke & will allow you to record your singing, has key change & vocal recucer/eliminator built in as well. It can also serve as a home player for your karaoke files as well with search & playlist options.

I agree, and the graphic is often better on the copy, but, all MTU software when extracting a track on HD or when listening to the back up disk, it will have a different sound. I would love to use their software but I can't stand how their software sound, there sound engine is just terrible... and I know for a fact that they can do a better job but no one is complaining about this, so...

I recently tested their Hoster demo thinking I could have a pro kj software for an upcoming party, but man, even my new EQ couldn't fixed that bad sound! I have many back up disk done using Microstudio and when I play them in the car, they sound different from the original.

Don't know what you are hearing, i've played the show computer back to back with original discs - same eq settings on the channel & there was no great discernable difference. Now I did notice a slight difference when playing through the onboard sound card & not the pro audio card.

it's my sensitive ears Lonman! I've tested the software on my new EV ZX1-90 with out the EQ, all flat and I could clearly hear the difference when comparing a software that uses the Bass sound engine such as Karawin and Xmplay. Play a back up cdg or any music cd done on Micro in the car compared with the original, you'll hear the difference in the mid, lows and high, the sound is very narrow.
I also hate the wma encoder they use, this encoder is ONLY good if you wish to compress at less than 128k, for anything over, Lame 3.97 is the way to go.

Please, trust me, I've been there before with the folks at MTU and I know they can do better, but they can't hear it, the same with their key changer... They have such great software, if only they could polish it.

Hmm, I thought the Hoster has an option for Lame codec. I need to go back and check it out, it's been a while I poked around the Hoster.

what about down loading disks into super cdgs that can hold hundreds of karaoke songs.

one scratch and you're out hundreds if not thousands of songs... yeah, baby, sign me up for sum o' dat!
