Post subject:  Job Interview

I had a job interview today and I think it went well. I won't know for a few days. This is just my third interview since I lost my job at the end of April. I have a freind to thank for this interview and the job has not been advertised. It is a roadwarrior traveling sales job with salary plus commission, plus expenses and good benefits. My freind is doing well with it. I'll let you all know if I get it.

This is great news. I got my job through a cousin out in California. He happened to be in town, I sent him my resume, got an interview a couple weeks later (as I was travelling to California)... started 1 month after the interview.

I believe employers always look at referrals above others... as you have someone 'vouching' for you.

Best of Luck!!

Thanks Micheal,

Been filling out applications and sending resumes every week without getting interviews. Like everyone says talk to all your friends and relatives.

Thanks Tom,

Sorry to here about your knee. Let us know when they do the operation. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I get the job and worrying a bit about how my wife will do with me gone so much. I suppose I should also worry that I can do well and make good commissions but I really beleive I can. My Son who has moved back home had job interview here in town yesterday, so his hopes are high that he gets hired too.

Hey there Jim,
It's been ages since we've talked. I'm hoping for the best for you in your job search. I know it has got to be frustrating. I've been lucky so far. Been in the same job for almost 30 years but you never know what tomorrow will bring with the way the economy is today. I miss hearing your great country subs on SS. Once again good luck and take care....Phil

Thanks everyone I will let you know if I get that phone call. I did not get as excited after the other interviews which is why I posted it. I may end up disapointed again but right now I have a feeling this one is it.

Hey Jim, best of luck from me too...my friend I told you about in Antioch lost his job too...mind you he was filling in while someone was away on maternity leave, so it was expected.

Good luck on the job. The job market is slim, but hopefully, since your friend is doing well, you will get it and be even more successful than your friend.

Jim- that's true. Sometimes the best jobs come from unlikely sources. I had been considering getting back into my old line of work, but there were never any local openings. (i refuse to commute down the highway, and live in a pretty small town... ) Then, I shopped around for insurance rates cause I detested my insurance carrier, switched insurance companies, and 3 months later went to work for my own agent. :D Now I'm back to doing something I always enjoyed, and I have a very cool boss. (and commute less than a mile across town)

Good luck to ya...

Finding something that you're good at, you enjoy and is close to home would be perfect, but it's tough to match that criteria. Charmin's got it made in the shade! :) lol

'Scuse me? I work my tail off, I'll have you know!! :D

But yeah, love my job, it's one I'm pretty good at, and about 5 minutes commute. (3 when I'm running late and the cops aren't looking)

Well I got the Job! Thanks everyone for encouraging me. This has been a big worry on me not to be working. I go for a orientation this coming Friday 8-1 classroom training on Saturday 8-2. Start three weeks out in the field training with another sales person on Monday 8-4. They emailed me their prices and a sales presentation to memorize by Friday. I am going to be busy getting every thing ready to be away from home 5 nights a week. I probably won't be on line as much for a while. This is going to take some getting used to.

I will be selling portrait packages as part of church directory shoots. My friend who helped me get this job tells me that portraits are still selling well and that I can make very good commissions. Hopefully I will make a lot more money than I was (not!) making trying to sell cars.

Tomorrow I am taking my karaoke system to a family get together so I will be having some fun before I start.

Whew! I'm glad you have that behind you. Finding a job in today's market... very tuff. Sounds like a good one to.

Maybe now you can enjoy your remaining time off. :dancin:

Good Luck in your new job, my fellow Tennessean!
