I'm so excited I thought I'd share -

I am going white water rafting in August. It's a 6 hour trip. I love taking vacations that keep me active. I'm not much for sitting at a beach. This is totally up my alley.
Wish me luck !

Oh, you'll love it Babs.

Have a fun/safe trip, take lots of pics to share with us.

(oh, and don't fall for it if any guys tell ya the raft is gonna sink from all the extra weight and that you need to throw your swimsuit overboard) :? :D

I did it once in Wyoming...... white water rafting of course. Awesome experience. We went over this 10 foot waterfall and it totally rocked. You will love it.

What's up Doc, a pleasure to meet you....there's place/places about 4 hours from you. I've been to this one a couple of times. If the water flow is good, you actually have some class III and IV rapids to traverse, and there are at least 3 10ft. waterfalls you go over(my right butt cheek still hurts from the last time we went, almost 2 years ago) It's a Indian outfit, they turn you loose(no guide) in two man rafts, and you don't even have to wear a helmit. There's some decent motels nearby too, and casinos(but they sure seemed not to pay off very well, but Vegas machines have spoiled me). It's close, it's inexpensive....lol...my wife said no more for her, she's getting too old for this sh!t, and she lost the lenses from her glasses the last time, plus bruises...........Big Smokey Falls Rafting Keshena, Wi.....take care

Thanks Johnny. Sounds like something I may need to look into. I'm a few years older, and I don't want the water to mes my bounty hunting mullet, but maybe I can take the wig off and give it a go one more time.

Hey, I'm 54(but I look and feel like 64....lol)....I'll do it....piece of cake. They have two rest areas along the trip with bathrooms, food and beer. It's suppose to be a 6 hour trip, but it only took us about 2 hours.....paddled too fast, I guess...lol...the best thing is, they just turn you loose, no guides.....of course those Injuns may want a piece of that mullet for wampum....lol......

Just got back from a great vacation! White water rafting rocks !

I have a few sore muscles, bumps and bruises, but I'm alive. LMAO

We saw some beautiful birds: Bald Eagles, Blue herrons, yellow finches, blue jays, wood peckers, cardinals

I had a huge dragon fly fall in love with me. I didn't care much for that.

My daughters raft got stuck on a dead deer. The funniest part of the whole trip.

It is more dangerous than it looks that's for sure. Great pic !

We had a 12 ft. drop in low water and it was very scary. At the bottom of the drop was all rocks with about 2 inches of water. It would have been nice to have a heads up from the people running the rafting. I'll never go during low water again. They say June is the best time to go.

Hey ol' buddy, I don't know if you were in Wisconsin, but I use this source
http://waterdata.usgs.gov/wi/nwis/current/?type=flow

I go around this area, and mostly watch the following flow chart

http://www.americanwhitewater.org/conte ... l_id_2316_

There are pics of different rapids in this area on this last page, they are all on the 12 mile trip
