Goat a hankering to get a tube mic preamp and sort of drawn towards this one They normally sell for about 300. Anybody familiar with or used this one? Lonnie what is a good one dual channel in this price range (3-400)? |

That's a decent unit. Are you going to try to use this for karaoke or in home recording? You may find you will get a much hotter mic & more feedback problems using them live. The gain on the board itself will practically be shut off. All the adjustments will be made from the unit. Hell when I worked in a couple studios ( even bought a couple for my own), they were using http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=180581 Made a huge difference & for the price, can't be beat. They were also using Avalon VT747 & Focusrite ISA 220 mic pre amps & typically would favor the Arts for the simplicity & good sound! |

It seems with shures and the new board we have to turn the pres up almost to max right above floor noise and having feedback problems. I think with this I would even run into line in and bypass the pres in the board. I looked at those singles also but what attracts me to this one is the variable input impedance. |

I have one, it's not bad, probably too late now that the auction is over. If you get it, change the tube inside, the cheap chinese tube just wasn't working for me. |
