We lost both comedian Bernie Mac & soul legend (and voice of Chef) Issac Hayes over the weekend.

Here's your third. Technically Bernie Brillstein died Thursday night. A huge reason why Saturday Night Live was/is as popular as it was/is. Producer of several tv shows & hit movies. People just don't see the behind the scenes talent as 'big names' alot of the times.

I'm sure if you dig, there will be more than 3........but seriously....I enjoyed the talents of all 3, and will miss them mucho........is there more talent in Heaven, or in Hell?....... ....when Andy D ick dies, it will actually decrease the talent in hell..........same thing for Paulie Shore.(spelling?)..

Well I actually like Andy Dick's comedy , just not his public, off screen antics. Like with Amy Winehouse, the rehab stints just aren't taking. He had some funny impersonations and characters in his earlier MTV show. His parts in News Radio with Phil Hartman and in the old Ben Stiller Show from the early 90's were great too.

Now Tom Green, there's a comic I never did like much.

Anyway, back on topic, Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes will both be missed!

Andy D ick = bleah

Pauly Shore = genious

I just can't remember anything else about Pauly Shore other than his trademark "Hey Buuuuudy". Remind me what else he did!:)

To me, Pauly Shore's all time funny movie has to be "Son-In-Law." I really liked that movie. He was great in that one. I know I have seen others he has been in, but nothing as memorable as that. At lest to me anyway! I think he does great comedy, even though many people do not care for him.--Mike

Sorry, I was never a fan of anyone on the list above. My favorites run a bit eclectic. The first comedian I enjoyed was Bill Cosby. One of the best of all time in my opinion. Then when I got older, I started to appreciate George Carlin, god rest his soul also. Then Steve Martin, specially his recent work.

Then it got a bit skewed. Tom Lerher is one of favorite of all time, not really a comedian but more of a humorist. Many of the Monty Python I appreciate their humor. Peewee Herman, pretty funny.

More recent comedians, I like a lot but not one stands out to make me a fan. I am more appreciative of smart, funny lines from movies than a single comedian.

Well yes Ben, if you're talking about really good, classic comedy then everybody you mentioned is way up there on the list. I would also include Jonathan Winters, Woody Allen, Lord Buckley, Firesign Theater, all kinds of other people. I might leave off Cheech and Chong though to some people's dismay. ha,ha

Yes Odie, I agree. I am a huge fan of Woody Allen, mostly because the dialogs in his movies are just fantastic. He's a true humorist of our time. I rarely heard his standup routines, he does so few, is good but not as good as him movies.

As for Jonathan Winters, slapstick comedy is always fun but again, cerebral comedy appeals to me more. If you want the ultimate vaudeville comic, you have to count Jerry Lewis. I saw him live once, in Damn Yankees (yes, this is a musical) and he stood in front of the audience by himself for 30 minutes and told one liners, just like in vaudeville act. It was just phenomenal.

Abbott and Costello anyone? At one point I memorized the entire Who's on First routine. How about Marx brothers? Some comedies are timeless.

I have to argue with you about Jonathan Winters, Ben. ha,ha His early comedy albums from the 60's were very creative, at times topical and filled with improv bits that nobody else could touch. Maybe not cerebral, but much more then just slapstick. Now the Three Stooges, that's slapstick.

I appreciate Jerry Lewis more as I get older. He can definitely hold an audience as a one man show.

Abbott and Costello -- kind of a louder, brasher Laurel and Hardy!

Liked as in he hasn't done anything noteable recently.
