Hi everybody, i have a big question.
is there a way to put something on your cdg files when you're displaying the track name of a song?
like adding an e-mail or logo?
Thanks.

A video editing software, maybe.
Ask Powerkaraoke that question.

There are CDG editing programs out there I have one called CDG edit.
Its mostly for repairing glitches you might see on the screen but I'm
sure that you could add something to the file I've just never tried it.
One thing to think about that if you change the file by adding or
subtracting anything you have just violated the copyright by changing
the format.
There are a few CDG's I have that I would love to delete the opening
screens with the funky logs (such as some DK) but I leave them alone
for this reason.
What does everyone else think

Not a bad idea during interludes

This is not embedding in to the CD+G file, you can probably use a CD+G editor to do that. However, I believe Power Karaoke player will let you embed messages at the bottom as the CD+G is being played. I have seen a screen shot of things like who is up next, which song it is, etc. You just input what you want to display and it will put it in the band at the bottom.

It would be fairly easy to blank the start of a CDG file played on a computer if that file contained the CDG command to blank the screen near the end of the section that you wanted to get rid of. Replacing it with a logo would be a little more tricky.

A really smart guy I know uses a screen saver on his "Second Desktop" complete with ads for whatever.. It rotates images between songs.. and before the show start..

After giving it some more thought, yeah it could be done but as jdmeister suggested it would probably be better not to put the logo right in the CDG file but run another program to run a slide show. CDG is limited to 16 colors at any one time and for all practical purposes it can only use 4 of the 16 for text.

there are a couple players that let you embed your logo while the song plays, or you could simply make your screen not the size of the whole tv screen, and have your logo on the exposed part of the tv screen that's not covered by the cdg window.

Karaoke Builder will let you add pictures to the beginning, the end, and in the middle of a CDG track. You just need a section of the song where nothing else is being displayed if you want to add something to the middle of the song.

Karaoke Builder Studio won't convert an existing CDG file into their format... you'd have to retype and sync the whole lyrics to do what you're talking about...
unless something's changed in the last upgrade!

Karaoke Builder can do all of the things I said it can without having to re type and re sync anything. I've done it. Do a little reading of the help files and you'll learn something.

The Emoticons... see, they're used to help express yourself. The rolling of the eyeballs is SUPPOSED to convey sarcasm, flippant and tongue-in-cheek comments.
What I was irked about was you're posting in the "Technical Questions" area with "Do a little reading of the help files and you'll learn something" and full of attitude. See, here in this particular part of the site, we try to help those that don't have the answers. I mentioned that I can't do it with Karaoke Builder Studio. I have a very old version, one of the first ones ever put out there, and there IS no help file associated with that version. You click on the help file, and it takes you to their website's help file.
The option I think you're talking about is not in my version which is 1.12 or something like that. I have repeated tried.
If you have some information other than your smart mouth, I'd be more than welcome to hear it. Maybe, just maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.
And to touch on your comment about my persona, I will NOT talk about something I don't know anything about. I stay out of threads about mixers and speakers and wiring... I'm at best an enthusiastic amateur with those, and still I seek out the more knowledgeable people about that.
But the ones I comment on, I KNOW what I'm talking about.
I've had friends and ex-friends comment that I tend to speak out too much on here, so maybe you're right about my "persona". I just know I've been on here a LOT longer than you and helped a LOT of people...
My track record speaks for itself I believe.
And I don't suffer newbies that come on here slamming me without knowing me!

I agree with Knightshow. I think Bruce's attitude was a bit arrogant. Never assume that person who's posting here doesn't know what they are doing. I always try to be polite when pointing out something that I THINK they don't know. There is no need to take comments personally. Everyone is here to learn from each other and encourage others. Remember, a lot of these people are professional and they have years of experience. Just respect and be courteous and we have some great discussions here, whether you agree or not.

knightshow's first response to my initial post was basically him saying that he thought that I didn't know what I was talking about. Instead of trying to be Mr. Know it All, he might have just said something like :" that's great. How do you do it instead of; "I have that program and it can't be done". His arrogance is what caused my second response. Since he felt the need to say that I was wrong; I wasn't about to enlighten him and told him to do some reading up on th eprograms in question before making a statement that was obviously in error; at least to me. I tried to point the original poster in the right direction to add some graphics to his or her files. I won't make that mistake again. Just direct any future questions to mister know it all MATT.

Back to the original question for a moment. I want to get this clear in my mind. You actually want to alter the CDG file and not just display something on the screen at the same time, is that right? In other words, you want to make this a perminent part of the graphics, yes? Not something that could be changed or omitted on the spur of the moment.

If you feel I'm wrong and you're right, PROVE it. This forum, and I'll say this again for the slow people... I'll even type it slower for ya Brucefan, is for sharing information. Even if you're 100% right, merely telling someone to read the help files doesn't answer the question.
http://www.karaokebuilder.com/kbfaq.php
I've been all over the FAQ, the overview and tutorials and still don't see how you can add a picture to an existing karaoke track. From what I understand, karaokebuilder and karaokebuilderstudio only see their own code. It can't interpret the cdg part and make the words on the lyrics screen complete with the highlighting. You can insert slideshows and the karaokebuilder .cdg screen you make from images into your OWN created files, but not one ripped from an actual .cdg track.
I give you the chance, dude. Prove it. I'm open-minded enough to learn new things... or are you going to sit here and just be a troll?
